OOC: Decided to take my sample post, and expanded it for arrival too.. Its over a bit of time and a bit backposted I think so doing as personal log.

Location: USS Nyx, Starbase 19, USS Galileo
Timeline: MD 32 to 53

Personal Log Entry,
Ensign Dasha Solari, Biochemist, USS Galileo
Formerly of the USS Nyx

So far, I'm finding this new duty station to be different but interesting, and think I will fit in. Sar is doing quite well, and enjoying exploring.

Also, my tape-worm, Fred, is giving some useful data, and quite informative. I plan to adjust his diet intake again to see how he reacts to different spices.

I was one of the lucky ones though at least. We lost a lot of good people before the USS Tokyo rescued us. Sometimes, I just wonder how we all got out.

Since Dasha was mainly just a researcher, she was working in the USS Nyx's biochemistry labs. Picking up a test-tube of treated Teresian monkey blood, she used a positive displacement pipette to transfer a small sample of 0.1 l l onto a slide before using another pipette to transfer a measured volume of chemical stain over the blood sample.

Closing it up and slipping it into one of the electronic microscopes, Dasha began to do examine it when the ship shook & the red alert sirens started. Quickly and efficiently, she put her monkey blood sample away and cleared up her station. She didn't want anything breaking in a combat situation, and looked around to find that the three other scientists were completely unsure of what to do.

Sighing, Dasha realized that they were all junior enlisted except for one Lieutenant Junior Grade who just looked lost. Walking over, she asked, "Excuse me, Lieutenant. Are you okay?"

The man gripped her arm, panic in his voice, "What do we do? I just got here from a star base and we never had to deal with this."

Dasha blinked, and did some inward swearing, before reaching up and slapping him across the face, "Get a handle of yourself, Sir. Do not panic."

He gulped, nodding, "Oh, sorry. You seem to know what to do. You are in charge now, Ensign - I can't do this."

Shrugging, she nodded, and turned to the junior enlisted, "Okay! Everyone, pack up what you are doing. I don't want to see anything on the benches that could fly around. Lieutenant, go send a text message to the Bridge Security station, signaling this 'Biochem Lab, All okay'. CC it to the Chief Science Officer and the Bridge Science Station as well."

The others jumped, doing what she said and she went over to help one of them that had a bit more work do. A few minutes later, the benches were clean.

A crewman asked, "Ensign, what do we do now?"

"We wait here and stay out of everyone's way until they tell us any different. Lieutenant, over here - we need to see if we need to lock down."

Walking over to one of the terminals with the Lt JG, Dasha brought up a read-only view of one of the science station on the bridge and noted that the sensors had picked up a series of four unknown vessels with weapons fire, which meant that it could be possible that they would need to defend themselves.

The door opened and a Security officer entered holding a phaser rifle openly, looking around, "Who is in charge here?"

Everyone pointed to Dasha, and she spoke, "I am, Sir. The Lt here ordered me to."

He nodded, holding up a bag, "We are under attack and could be boarded. I was directed here to arm anyone with hand phasers and provide protection. They are going to send help as soon as possible - we just need to hold out if they do board."

Dasha took a phaser herself and nodded at she tapped her waist knife, "Aye aye, Lt."

She helped the security officer hand out phasers, checking they were on stun first, and when everyone was armed, they setup a spread out pattern around the lab with more competent staff at the front to wait.

Dasha looked out through the window of the starbase lounge area at the sight of the USS Nyx. The severely crippled Intrepid-class vessel had only made it out by the skin of its teeth when the more powerful Sovereign-class USS Tokyo had burst into the system and blasted away at the raider vessels until they warped out.

Dasha had helped out using her biology training in the medical ward as an assistant with the combined medical staffs while the engineering staff got the Nyx going enough to be towed back.

Hearing a cough behind her, Dasha turned to find Commander Maddon standing nearby. He smiled to her, "Hello Ensign."

"Hello, Commander. Any news yet on what is going to happen?"

"Yes, I do. The Corps of Engineers have found that the Nyx can be salvaged and repaired, although it is going to be awhile of repairs until she can be towed back to Mars for complete refit. In the meantime, most of the crew is going to be reassigned."

He scanned the padd, "Including you, Ensign."

"Oh."

He reached out, pulling her close as he kissed her on the cheek, "And yes, I will miss you."

She leaned up against him, "I'll miss you too."

"Yes, I know, but we both know it was only casual. I have heard about the ship you are going to, and it is a good one. There is no need for a biochemist during refit."

Dasha nodded, "I guess that's true. Do you know when the transfer orders come through?"

"Two days time."

"Nice."

~ Arrival - MD-53 ~

Walking out of the airlock of the transport vessel carrying the cage holding her hedgehog in right hand, her six foot English longbow over her right shoulder, her violin case over her left shoulder and a carry-case in her left hand with some personal items, Dasha stopped & looked around before making her way over to where a Lieutenant JG from Starbase Operations was standing.

"Excuse me, Lieutenant. Do you know where new transfers need to go? I'm assigned to the USS Galileo."

He smiled, "Sure, you sure have a lot. The Galileo is handling transfers aboard ship. If you head down the corridor, there is a transporter room that can get you over. Do you need help?"

"Thanks, Sir, and I'm okay. This is all.."

Leaving the bay, she headed along the corridor and lined up for the transporter.

Stepping off the padd aboard the Galileo, Dasha was given a datapad with her quarters listed and duty schedule by a nice crewman from Operations before heading off to leave her stuff, so she could explore.
