First Officer's Log, Lt Commander Johnathan Holliday reporting,

Today I met our new CO for the first time, suffice to say, she wasn't exactly what I was expecting - it's not very often that you meet an Orion in Starfleet, usually they're too busy being pirates or conmen to have any real benefit to the fleet, but this one at least seems to be competant.
I wasn't expecting to be serving under someone from Intelligence, and I'm anticipating that we will probably butt heads a few times over how to handle a situation, nevertheless, she is my commanding officer, and on the Bridge, I intend to aim to follow her orders to the letter, and save any disagreements or issues I might have for her Ready Room.

For a science vessel, the Galileo isn't a bad ship, I was surprised to see her tactical systems so well developed, which gives me a little hope that if we end up going toe-to-toe with some unforseen agressor, we should have sufficient firepower to make them think twice.

I have spent the rest of the day after breakfast with the Commander studying every report that came in on this vessel, I intend to know exactly what state we are in before we leave drydock, although I need to make sure I discuss this further with the Chief Engineer, who hopefully I should meet tomorrow during my walkaround with Commander Saalm.

I think a good night's sleep is needed, so I am bright eyed and bushy-tailed for an 0730 start tomorrow.

End log.
