First Officer's Log, Lt Commander Jonathan Holliday signing on,

after receiving my new orders from Command, I have travelled to San Francisco in order to meet up with my newest assignment. Speaking freely I can admit this is definitely not the posting I wished I had received. After spending so many years in Tactical positions, I can only surmise that someone decided it would be an exvellent practical joke to assign me to a Science vessel - my old man must be laughing all the way to Mars...

Still, at least it gets me a new assignment, I was getting bored ferrying Romulans around, there's only so much of that a man can take, and it makes a change to be back on terra firma, rather than in space. Plus, this ship is brand new, according to the most recent log entries, the engineers are still scurrying around finishing the various installations that remain, hopefully they'll remember to get the engines and weapons working before we leave.

My first duty is going to be to locate my new CO, a Commander Saalm, not an officer I've come across before, although from reading her database entry, I can't say I'm overly looking forward to it - apparently the good Commander is some kind of communications specialist and speaks god knows how many languages.
I've always been wary of talkers - I prefer to shoot first and ask questions later....still...protocol is protocol.

End log.
