"Hello Lady in the Ship!" Lily gave a fast wave to the screen that was recording her.

"I haven't seen Mummy in..." the young girl stopped, counting on her fingers with concentration. "...ever," she finally concluded with a shrug. "So I'm making my log."

"She's so busy, all the time, and sometimes, we go to sleep, but I wake up and she's not asleeps anymore and gone," she scratched her dark hair thoughtfully. "Grown up world is so confusing."

"Verity is here, but he fell asleep too!" Lily shook her head with despair over strange adult sleeping habits. "And it's boring...so I put some of Mummy's lip and eye colour on him as he snoozes, don't tell him!"

She covered her mouth as she giggled softly. To be fair, she felt like she'd done a good job at it. "Aria is teaching me to use all the 'tools at my disposable'..." she said each syllable with a nod, in a tell tale sign that she'd memorised the phrase from an adult. "She said if Verity doesn't make brownies with me I should do sad eyes, make them all big like hers, see?" she leant forward on the desk until her eyes had an extreme closeup for the recording, making them wide as she blinked slowly. "She says it works on babysitters, friends and Ensigns.

"But it didn't work on Mummy. I said I should get a kitty, cos she's gone so much. So...I did big Aria eyes, but she just said '5 out of 10'. So, I'm gonna ask Aria what works on Mummies, cos I really do want a kitty

"And I can keep things alive now!" she leant out of shot, pulling a plantpot with lavender in across the desk in front of her. "This is Mary, I grew her from a tiny seed! So, kitties can't be that harder, maybe even babies too. I asked Mummy if I grew the same way, and she said kind of, so it must be pretty easy."

Lily glanced back over her shoulder as she heard Verity turning on the sofa. "Oh! I have to go! I want to put Mummy's nail paint on him before he wakes up!" she turned back to the screen, blowing a kiss. "Speaks soon! Be good! Don't let space pirates past the shield!" she waved with both hands before clicking the screen down and making a run for her mother's room.
