Chief Counselor's Log, Stardate 69327.8

As of this morning, I begin my duties as Chief Counselor of the USS Galileo-A. Although the crew is officially on shore leave and the ship is docked, I hope to use this downtime to familiarize myself with the ship and her crew... well, the manifest, at least. I will of course introduce myself to any of my new shipmates that I come across, and I will happily conduct any sessions that are requested during this downtime, but I intend to respect the time off this crew undoubtably deserves.

My official check-ins went smoothly upon my arrival yesterday, and I was able to meet with the ship's First Officer and the Chief Medical Officer. The Captain was unavailable, away from the station, apparently, so I have yet to meet her. I hope that she will be afforded some relaxation before the end of leave. In the meantime, I'll begin my work today by honoring Commander Blake's request to review the files of the Trial survivors and reach out to any I may feel could benefit from some conversation.

The counseling office itself is quite comfortable. There is a clear delineation between the desk workspace and the more spacious seating area which includes a view I imagine will be very impressive when we are underway. It also appears large enough to accommodate a small group, if necessary. Or perhaps even a small art class, if anyone wishes to learn the basics of Ba'ku sculpture.

On a personal note, I'm on the third of Shoggoth's enigma tales that Malor gave me. The series certainly evokes the repetitive epic genre of Cardassian literature, given that, so far, every suspect in these mysteries have been guilty of something. I'm not as aware of all of the nuances of Cardassian society and therefore haven't been able to recognize some of the clues presented in the text, but I have been enjoying them. There are two more books left in the set, and I think Malor will be gratified to know that they are providing a lot of insight into his culture. For now, however, it is time to get to work.

Computer, end log.
