Work-Life Balance

Posted on 01 Nov 2018 @ 1:06pm by Chief Warrant Officer 3 Azra Ghoc

230 words; about a 1 minute read

"There's always been debate on how much time we should spend working, versus how much time we should spend doing the things we'd like to do or need to do outside of the time we're on duty."

Azra leaned forward, one elbow resting on the desk, hand supporting her chin. The other hand rested on the surface of the desk.

"I've noticed that there are a number of personnel who don't spend much time out of their offices or labs. To some extent, I think I understand that. If their job is what they love and they don't have any other responsibilities, then that's great. I just don't understand it." She sighed. "I like my work, I really enjoy almost every aspect of it. I also value my leisure time. Unless I'm right in the middle of something, when my duty shift is over I stop working."

"Maybe I'm strange, but it's me. Lately I've been spending a lot of time getting to know the crew aboard. I've got an ice-climbing session scheduled with Tris Shizn, and I've got a tentative holo-novel adventure set up with Commander Warraquim. I seem to have alienated some of the other warrant officers aboard, but I can't be friends with everyone, I guess."

"Anyway," Azra said, "I think I'm making myself a cozy little nest here. Hopefully some of these budding friendships will expand."
