Downtime

Posted on 31 Oct 2018 @ 7:21pm by Lieutenant Amaranai Franklin

301 words; about a 2 minute read

"Computer, begin log..."

Amaranai was on her bed. Her bed. Not Lirha's. Not that there was a problem with being in her own bed, in her own quarters. In fact, Amaranai wanted to make sure that her sister wasn't alone too much that the older sister had decided to spend a few evenings with her sister. Of course, at least, tonight, her sister had decided to go out with a friend.

"Well," she finally said to the air. "I guess I can finally begin this log. I don't really know what to say. Lirha and I are starting to reconnect. I'm a little worried about her, though, because I think she has been having nightmares. Nightmares about Kreanus."

She paused and thought her girlfriend.

"I'm worried that whatever she went through on that planet and then the corresponding trauma are finally resurfacing and it's getting to her. I have worked really hard to not think about Kreanus. Too many bad memories and too much trouble."

Another pause. This time to reach down to her leg. Fully healed by the medical teams on their way back to Earth, but subconsciously, she still feels pain. Amaranai wasn't going to admit it to Lirha, but the brunette was scared for her life. If she hadn't found the others when she did, she had a feeling she would have died on that rock.

Amaranai inwardly shrugged the thoughts out of her head.

"I wish Lirha would talk to me more. I love her and I want to take care of her. But if she doesn't talk to me about everything, how can I do that?"

One more pause as Amaranai's mind added extra words to the log.

If you don't tell her what's bothering you, she can't help you, either.

"Computer, end log."
