Personal Log 013

First Officer Jonathan Holliday reporting.

Commander Saalm and Lieutenant Coleman have been successfully retrieved from enemy hands as laid out in tactical assessment Beta 47 filed by myself several hours ago. Casualities were minimal - my own shoulder taking the majority of the fire towards my team.

All members of the assault party behaved admirably under fire, and I am pleased that no unnecessary loss of life was sustained.
It was good to see our captain awake and well after my recent visit to Sickbay. I had felt that should she have had trouble recovering from her injuries that some of the blame ought to rest on my shoulders for having allowed her capture in the first place. If she wishes to pursue disciplinary measures against me for my failure as her XO in this matter, then I will not appeal against it.

We now face one last decision together - one that I made in her absence, that may or may not have been the right thing to do. Use Sienna. Using a prototype technology that barely works on a PADD in a practical application....I am anxious and apprehensive beyond words. Should this mission fail and Galileo be lost, I am hopeful that should at least our log entries be received, that Starfleet will understand that in my opinion, the crew of this vessel served with courage and distinction, right up until the very end if necessary.

Repairs are continuing...helped along by the surprisingly helpful Vorta that we recovered several days ago. His knowledge of engineering systems is advanced for an individual who spent the last 14 years in a stasis pod, but as long as it gives us the power levels that we need to succeed, I feel that it outweighs any possible security breaches - something that I know our acting CSO is less than impressed with me about - but so far has acted with dignity and decorum, rather than confronting me.

Hopefully my next log entry will be from the safety of Federation space...where we can all get some well-earned shore leave. Once more unto the breach.

End log.
