Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 2 - Mess Hall
Timeline: MD 02: 1515hrs

The turbolift quickly snapped open onto Deck 2, depositing the XO fresh from his meeting with Captain Saalm to decide their course of action after the most recent set of events. Ansen Pawlak was John's target this time; his mission to escort the chef to the Brig pending further disciplinary actions.

As the Commander made his way along the corridor, John stopped near one of the weapons lockers, tapping in his authorisation code before opening it, removing a type 1, and securing it inside the waistband of his uniform. Holliday had no intention of using his weapon, but it was always better to be safe than sorry - he had learned that during his tenure as a security officer.

Moving into the Mess Hall, John saw that generally, there were very few crew members in the area. Most had already eaten in preparation for the start of Beta shift in under an hour, or were soundly asleep before Gamma shift later on into the night.
Ignoring the looks of those indivuals who looked over towards him, John ducked round the corner and into the galley.

Ansen glanced up as the door to the galley swung open. It wasn't that he minded seeing people, but the constant wandering in and out of his kitchen was a little frustrating. He wondered if the officers just wandered into each others offices like that as well. Not that it mattered that much. He hadn't seen the XO since he'd prepared the Captain's feast for the very beginning of their maiden voyage. How long ago that had been. Before- he took a deep breath, trying and failing to avoid thinking of Marek. "Powitanie, Mister Holliday. Can I help you?"

"Mr Pawlak. I need you to come with me. Captain's orders."

John stood up to his full height as he thought through all the possible outcomes. Either the chef would come peacefully and this would be a painless experience, or he would resist, or in some other way refuse to comply, and things would become much more complex.

Ansen looked at Holliday quizzically. It wasn't the most friendly he'd seen the man, but then they'd never really had any kind of interaction. Still, if the Captain wanted him. "Tak?" he murmured, thinking. Let's see, he thought, chopping the knife absently through the corn to mince it. Nearly everything done in here. Good news. Another feast to prepare. Or she thinks Orion appreciation Day is not going to be appreciative enough, he chuckled, though the laugh was hollow. He'd even cleaned the crabs already, thinking he'd get a little time to himself, and he'd had a chance to test all the combinations when he'd talked to the odd man with the eye on his throat. He flipped the blade over the back of his hand and used the dulled side to scrape the corn into a bowl. Then flipped the knife absently over the back of his hand again and strolled towards the reclamator that happened to be behind Holliday.

The sight of someone walking towards him with a weapon wasn't the usual response that John wanted to receive when he asked someone to accompany him. Unsure of exactly how to proceed, the XO moved his hand towards his waist, and the type 1 that was concealed there.

"Mr Pawlak....I sincerely hope you're carrying that knife towards me for a reason..."

Ansen looked at him oddly and continued past him, dropping the blade into the reclamator. "Right," he murmured, wiping his hands on his apron, and tugging the knot free, folding the fabric on the island. "Lead the way."

Breathing a silent sigh of relief, the XO moved his hand back down from his waist and down by his side. Turning on his heel, John led the chef out towards the turbolift, and the Security office.

Ansen followed him in, barely even noticing when the XO told the computer to take them down, rather than up. The Captain could be anywhere. It was her ship, after all.
