Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo: Sickbay
Timeline: MD 01 1300 hours

ON:

Jacob walked to the one area of the ship he didn't exactly care for; otherwise known as Sick Bay to many, and he just wanted to get this one over with as soon as possible.

He walked in as the doors opened and soon a few eyes were upon him. He smiled at them all and said, "Hi there, Lieutenant Pendleton here to Doctor Wilson?"

Jessica glanced up, she was just ending the shift and a half she had found herself pulling as routine now that she no longer had to do the, frankly stupid, bridge duty she had been assigned. She noted an officer, a Lieutenant JG, enter the sickbay.

"Afternoon Lieutenant," Jessica smiled "How can I help you?"

Jacob thought to himself, "Wow, what a cutie!", he then fumbled with his PADD a bit and then said, "I am here for the usual physical as is protocol being new to the ship." He smiled at her.

"Ah, welcome aboard then Lieutenant," Jessica smiled warmly, she knew the importance of a welcoming atmosphere and a good bedside manner, both of which she had repeatedly been praised for during her time at the academy, despite what some aboard ship might think and have said as much. "If you could jump up on that there biobed we can get started."

Jacob did just that. He watched her prep but averted his eyes directly with her as hers were just gorgeous! He said nothing though just letter her do her work.

"Alright, just lie back and relax, please," Jessica said as she activated the biobeds medical sensors. "The biobed will run a full body scan, if anything comes up I'll examine it further."

Jacob laid back and stared up at the ceiling as the biobed did its thing. He felt several eyes on him all the while, but he was used to that, he casually said, "So, anything of interest Doc?"

"Nothing that screams out at me," Jessica replied. "Are there any medical issues that concern you?"

Jacob chuckled, "Not really, and, I certainly don't want any."

"Well, we aim to please," Jessica smiled. "Have you had any major medical problems or injuries in the past?"

He shook his head, "Nope. Nada. Ningun. Nay." He chuckled a bit more.

"Alright, well the biobed isn't picking up anything, and given your lack of any substantial medical history or current issues I'd say you are clear for duty, this is the first simple medical I've had all week," Jessica commented with a slight smile. "Unless you particularly want to undergo more tests?"

Jacob got into play acting mode and playfully "covered" himself up with his arms, "Gee Doc. Can't you see I bruise easy? More tests?? Universe forbid!" He smiled, laughed slightly and blushed slightly when their eyes met.

"Is that a no then?" Jessica commented with a slight smile.

With a little teasing and attempted flirtation in his voice he replied, "Well.... only if you are giving the test..." He blushed again slightly, "Otherwise... no.." He turned his head over-dramatically trying not to laugh while doing it.

"Well, I'm sure we can think of something," Jessica replied with a smile, albeit blushing her own shade of red.

He blushed further while thoroughly enjoying the flirtation and fun he was having with Jessica. He playfully nudged her with his shoulder and said in his continued over-acted playful voice with a mocked shock tone, "Oh Doctor.. what will the staff think?" Even though he was terrible at flirting he felt as though it somehow seemed easier. Maybe it was Jessica's personality or just that she was allowing him to do so. He looked around to see if any of the rest of the staff around was noticing them having this moment of flirty fun. He blushed further now but incapable of hiding it so he just let her see him actually turn red faced.

Jessica was herself blushing quite substantially, was she actually flirting here? It wasn't that the man wasn't unattractive, although he towered over her by at least a foot, but how in gods name was it coming so naturally? She wasn't exactly particularly good interacting with people on normal circumstances, although it had got easier, but this was something else entirely.

"I suppose we could to the reactions test," Jessica commented.

"Reactions test?" He questioned, "I think I am having a few 'reactions' already!" He felt his face with his hands. His heart was beating a mile a second. Every time his eyes met hers he felt like he was being melted inside, they were THAT gorgeous. His throat was dry. And he was sure she could see this by simply looking at the vital signs being given by the biobed's continuous scans.

"I can see that," Jessica commented with a wry smile. "If you don't calm down your going to go into cardiac arrest."

Jacob laughed nervously, "Can't have that can we?" He cleared his throat but was unable to come up with anything witty, profound or anything else, he could hardly believe how tongue tied he was.

"Well, I honestly can't think of any tests that I can justify at this point," Jessica replied with a smile, fixing his look. "There's nothing wrong with you."

He just nodded and smiled still blushing slightly. "Well... um.. that's.. uh, good.. yes.. very good to.. um.. know Doc."

"Well, at least we'll have a excellent baseline to refer to," Jessica smiled warmly. "That of course means I have no reason to keep you here."

Jessica paused.

"I get off in an hour, do you want to grab a drink in the mess?" Jessica asked, before blushing madly, instantly thinking: 'did i just ask that', but she remained silent as she went bright red.

Jacob smiled hugely, "YES.. I mean.. yes, you would be lovely.. I mean, that would be lovely... I.. um.. that would be wonderful..." Jacob stuttered and stammered like a sixteen year old boy going on his first date. He thought he probably sounded just like that as well and silently cursed himself. "I'll meet you there." He added getting red again.

"Alright then," Jessica smiled. "I'll see you there."

He smiled at her sweetly. He felt like was kind of floating. He got off the biobed and then leaned down to her and whispered in her ear, "Thank you.. um.. Jessica, I think my day has been made perfectly. See you soon."

He smiled, straightened up, tried to act casually as he said goodbye to some of the other medical staff as he kept glancing back over to Jessica and finally left Sick Bay, which was, at least for now, one of the most incredibly awesome places there could be on this ship. A mighty smile crossed his lips as he hummed a bright tune down the hall.

Jessica watched him leave the sickbay before leaning back against the biobed they had been working at. She held up her hands in front of her and noted a slight shaking, had she really managed to be that confident and forward? Hell, maybe this ship was having an effect on her. Turning back to her work she smiled, the last hour of her twelve hour shift didn't look all that long anymore.
