[ON]

Keval hadn't gotten the order to report to the Galileo till literally the last minute. T'Janik a Vulcan was supposed to have been assigned there, but an ion storm had delayed his transport and Keval was his last minute replacement.

He's been having a good time, a really good time, at Badlands. He wasn't quite drunk, but he was far from sober and he had been working on picking up a really cute Vulcan, not too many of them came into Badlands for some reason, when his PAdD had beeped and he'd gotten his new orders.

He barely had time to grab a GO bag and hoped that the quartermaster crop really would get his stuff to the ship. He didn't even have time to change to his uniform.

There was a beer stain on his black pants, not made by him, but by a careless patron far more gone than he was and his shirt smelled like, well he didn't want to think what it smelled like.

He got a few strange looks from the station's transporter chief and he could have sworn the man had giggled.

Rematerializing on his new ship he breathed out a small sigh. He didn't usually mind the transporter, but this time, combined with everything else it left him a bit queasy.

He nodded a curt hello to the petite transporter chief and asked her where he had been assigned a cabin. He then picked up his bag and started heading in that direction as fast as he could.

Unfortunately he was a little too fast. As the turbo-lift doors opened he took a hasty step inside and literally bumped into a man with Commander pips.

He took a step back, even as his antennae curled back against his head. ~Oh shit,~ he thought to himself.

"Excuse me, sir." he said turning a slightly deeper shade of blue.

Having slipped away from the end of Beta shift on the Bridge a fraction early in order to complete the last few outstanding jobs from the Galileo's layover on the surface of Vega, John Holliday had been deep in thought as he headed along the corridor towards his office, that was of course, before his chest was rudely assaulted by a hitherto-unknown Andorian with enough force to almost launch the PADD from the XO's hand onto the floor. Taking a second to catch his breath, John looked the crewman up and down before speaking.

"Crewman I suggest you have a very good reason for running into a superior officer?"

"Sir, no excuse sir," the Petty Officer commented. "I was just assigned to this ship and didn't even have a chance to change into something a.... little more presentable. I was hurrying to my cabin to get a much needed shower and change of clothes."

I hope you're okay sir. Not exactly the introduction I had in mind."

"I've been hit by worse. I didn't catch your name Crewman...I didn't think we were expecting any Andorians aboard?"

John was desperately wracking his brains to try and make sure that the statement he just made wasn't entirely false. Nothing he could think of mentioned an Andorian being transferred aboard, and if there had been,he certainly hadn't been made aware.

"Sorry sir, Petty Officer Keval Greysan. I'm in Operations. You were supposed to get a Vulcan named T'Janik. His transfer ship ran into an ion storm from what I hear. I might be a better fit though. I actually helped on the design of the Nova's security and communication systems.

Again sir, I apologize for my appearance. I was as surprised about this as you are. I was out at a club when I got the word."

"A club? When you were on the roster for being assigned active duty? I don't see that as an appropriate way to be spending your time Petty Officer."

John was beginning to regret not being sent a Vulcan already. However annoying and self-centered their species could appear to be at some moments, at least they were relatively predictable and easy to understanding...generally.

"I hope you have an assignment with a replicator and a sonic shower before reporting to your department head?"

Keval looked at the superior officer in the eyes. He wasn't in anyway defiant, in fact he was feeling a little guilty. Especially for almost knocking the man over, but he was just a bit exasperated as well, not that he wanted that to show.

"I apologize again sir, but I had been assigned, the Yorktown, I was supposed to report in three days. So I was off duty. Whoever the powers that be in Command decided I'd be the best fit for here sir.

Trust me sir, I may be many things, but I do take my duty seriously, if I had been 'in line' then I would have never been at Badlands or for that matter even out of uniform.

As to the sonic shower, yes sir, right away sir. That is where I was headed when I... when I got into too much of a hurry."

"See that it doesn't happen again Petty Officer. Carry on." John replied with a nod, before sidestepping the young man in front of him and continuing his journey down the corridor. It had not been the most formal of meetings between a new crewmember and their First Officer, but it was certainly one that would stay in the XO's memory, at least for a little while.
