Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo - Security Office
Timeline: MD -02: 1700

Keval wasn't a Security Officer, he was probably a bit too loose with the rules and regulations to make a good one. Nonetheless he appreciated the job that they did. He had a pretty rigid and defined moral compass, at least on the important stuff, had even been the lead prosecution witness in the trial that had sent his own father, adopted father, to a penal colony.

Just because he did not wear the uniform, did not mean that he could not be useful to that department. He may have not been the best shot with a phaser, but he was the best, or at least one of them at protecting(and sometimes hacking into) systems.

He stepped into the Security Office, looking for someone to direct him to the Chief.

"Can I help you?" Senior Davis asked the new arrival.

"Yes," replied the Andorian, his right antennae quirking forward slightly, "Is your chief around? Lt. Stone I believe his name is?"

"His duty shift is over, and he's not in the office," Davis said. "Is there something I can help you with? I'm on duty."

"Sure," he replied. "I'm the new Operations guy. I understand that you had, a security breach of your systems. I don't know all the details, don't need to know all the details, but I can help safeguard your systems. Can you authorize that?"

Davis stared at the Petty Officer while he kept himself under control. "No, sir. I don't have the authority to authorize that. I guess you need to see the Chief after all." Davis did a check of the systems. "One moment."

==^==Lieutenant Stone, there is an petty officer in the office to see you.==^==

Jeremy, leaving his meeting with Petrov frowned as he checked his chrono. Sighing he hit his commbadge. ==^==Rhodes is the supervisor on duty, Senior Davis.==^==

==^==Yes, sir, but this is a Chief need.==^==

Jeremy sighed as he shook his head. ==^==On Deck Four, will be there in a moment==^==.

"It'll be a couple minutes," Davis said to the petty officer. "If you'll have a seat, I'm sure he'll be here promptly."

"Thank you, I appreciate Mr. Davis and I'm really not trying to be a giant pain your ass." He almost added at least not professionally, but decided that would be a bad move.

He went over and sat down at chair, legs folded in front of him both antennae back at almost a forty-five degree angle.

Jeremy entered the office to see Davis at the console. The Senior seemed to be smiling as he saw Jeremy enter. There most certainly was a twinkle in his eye. Sidi barked at him, once, causing Jeremy to yank on his lead to stop him. That seemed to remove the twinkle though.

"What's the problem, Senior?" Jeremy asked.

Davis shrugged as he nodded his head at the Andorian. "Says he's here to see you. Offer his services."

Jeremy scowled at that, looking at the Andorian. He sighed as he strode past the security console and hit the keypad to his office. "Petty Officer," he said as he moved into the office, putting Sidi down behind the desk. Why the Andorian was looking for him - and why Davis couldn't take care of the problem - was beyond Jeremy. Unless the admin had approved someone's transfer to his department without informing him.

After the Andorian came in, Jeremy glanced at him. "What do you need?"

When Jeremy and Sidi came into the Security Office Keval had stood to his feet. After overhearing the conversation between Davis and Stone he came to attention. When the Security Chief addressed him he gave the man a salute. It wasn't the best executed, but it was there nonetheless.

"Yes sir," he said, both antennae curling forward slightly, "First I apologize for bringing you up here, I should have checked the duty roster first.

I am Keval Greysan I am a new operations officer here. I heard a little about the incident with your break in, and I might have a solution for you. Please don't be upset with Officer Davis. It requires your authorization and I wanted to follow proper protocol."

Jeremy sat at his desk and brought up the bridge station configuration and scan logs. "What do you know about a beak in?" He asked as he ran through the security feeds, checking all areas of the ship at a fast pace.

"I don't know many details sir, but this is a science vessel. I don't think they place a proper priority on security issues and so the scuttlebutt is that someone used the Captain's security codes to override your system. If that is indeed the case. I think I can help."

Jeremy glanced at the Andorian, scowling. Scuttlebutt? He asked himself. "How can you be of assistance?"

"One of my specializations is security systems, I can build in some additional algorithms which will make your system harder to breach and at the same time cut down on the time required to reset things in the event that your system is breached."

Jeremy sighed. "What are your qualifications? Training? Background?"

"Have you heard of the Eagle Corporation?"

"You are not here to interview me, Mister Graysan. I asked for your background and training not for gossip or a list of what's what in the galaxy." Jeremy checked his chrono. "If you are unable to keep this conversation on track then you're wasting my time."

"Sir, what I am trying to tell you is that my father, my adopted father founded the company and I was the CEO for three years. I know most of the systems on this ship because they came from his designs. I also have an MBA from Stanford. At the Academy I trained and majored in Communications and Security systems."

"No," Jeremy said disengaging the link to the bridge station.

"No what? Are you saying you don't want my help?"

"That is what I said. You have no qualifications to be in security, you're reasons and story lead me to doubt its veracity and as such, I'm not going to authorize you to have access to any of my security systems. Unless you have some actual security need, you can find your way out."

Both of his antennae went rigid, and his face turned a slightly deeper shade of blue, but his face remained calm.

He pulled out a pair of PADDS and slid them across the desk. "The first of those has the schematics for your system, the classified ones, and yes I have the clearance for them. The second one is my file with my records from the Academy, you'll see I was in the top five in my class for security systems. That is top five, not five percent. You'll also see the information about Eagle. Board meetings, organizational charts, prospectuses, my picture.

I came prepared. And with all due respect sir, asking for verification might be more productive than making accusations."

Jeremy picked up the PADDS and looked at the two. He tossed back the one with the corporate and personal information and found himself interested in the other. The one with classified information on it. "Where did you obtain this information?"

"As I said sir, I helped build it. Those are the original designs."

Jeremy flipped through the information on the PADD while nodding. "Designs original to this ship or the Nova class in general?"

"Nova in general sir. Its been awhile, those schematics are not an exact match for the Galileo, I'm sure there have been some modifications. And when I say helped that's what I meant. I was a lead on some of the communication modules, but just one of a dozen working on the design of Security.

Still, I probably know the system better than anyone else on the ship."

Jeremy nodded as he stood, putting the PADD into his pocket for the moment. It had just become evidence. He strode around the desk and looked at Graysan, "You need to stand up now, Petty Officer. I'm taking you into custody for possession of classified data and failure to secure classified data to start. I'll consider what my investigation into your activities aboard this ship reveals and see if there will be additional charges, but those should be enough at the moment."

Sidi perked up, his brown eyes going to Stone-smell and watching. Alpha seemed to be onto something, catching some prey of his own. Maybe there was still a chance for bite!

Keval looked back at the other man incredulously. His antennae which had been curled slightly forward, now stood straight up and rigid.

"You have got to be kidding me Lieutenant. I came in here offering to help, you ask me for my credentials and expertise and i show them to you and then you have the audacity to not only question my integrity and honor but you arrest me?!

Well I can't stop you from doing what you think your job is and I'm not going to resist you. But before you continue you might want to do a little fact checking, because your charges are not only not going to stick, but you're going to look... over zealous in my arrest.

As I have already pointed out, I have the proper clearance to have those schematics, my company designed them. Secondly, I de-encrypted those schematics before I handed you them, and in about 20 seconds or so that whole PADD you just put in your pocket is going to be filled with nothing but images that are rather graphic and which I doubt very much that you would enjoy looking at.

If I wanted to sabotage the ship, I could do it without your knowing about it. I sure as hell wouldn't announce myself."

"Graysan," Jeremy said, glaring. "I'm not known for being patient. You can get up on your own or I will consider this a failure to comply and take appropriate action."

He slowly rose to his feet, "I'm complying with your order, but let me tell you what's going to happen. As soon as you process me my chief is going to be notified and he's most likely headed to the captain. Regardless at some point the notice is going to reach Star Fleet Command and Admiral Singer is going to hear about it. Then he's going to call the Captain and the Captain's going to call you.

I'm pretty sure you're not going to like that call."

"Out to the brig," Jeremy said, waving the door open. "You can feel free to keep making idle threats of connections during the process."

"I'm not making idle threats, Lieutenant, " he said as he began walking towards the brig, "I'm trying to save both of us a lot of trouble. Before you go through with this, I'd suggest you check my credentials against the ship's records. You'll see I'm telling you the truth."

"I intend to do a thorough check of you," Jeremy said as he activated the security field on Brig cell four.

He turned to Davis. "I'm going to go write up the PC on this one, could you get him processed into the system?"

"Sure thing, Boss." Davis said, glancing at Sidi standing in the door of the Chief's office.

Jeremy frowned. "He claims there will be high level contact regarding the arrest. Notify me of any important calls."

"Sure," Davis said, curious what happened with this one. Though it might cut down on people volunteering their services where the SecTac chief was concerned.

Keval sat in the brig, one pissed off Andorain. He understood that Stone had a job to do, but checking things out before an arrest would have made so much more sense. And worse yet, at least in his mind, the security chief had questioned his honor.

He wondered if after things were over if the pinkskin would be amenable to a duel. Not to the death, though that though had briefly crossed his mind, just a good old fashioned sparring match.

For now all he could do was wait.
