Laughing slightly, the strain was still evident in the Doctor's voice before she attempted a smile. "You realise that as your Doctor, I should be discouraging you from drinking alcohol given the situation but..." Pausing as she placed her weight on her hands, placed on the biobed, she looked up at Cyrus with a slightly stronger smile. "...that would be nice. Not sure about drinking you under the table but certainly, just getting away from sickbay for an evening would be nice."

"And get away you shall, you just let me know. I'll come get you or meet you somewhere. " He grinned and winced as his shoulder twinged. "Either way, everybody needs to unwind after things like this, yourself included. I'm holding you to it!" Cyrus pointed a finger at her mock-accusingly. His shoulder groaned in reply and he was forced to cut his clowning short.

"As for your other question, yeah. My shoulder is still bothering me. It's still tender, but it's been irritating me non stop."

And the Continuation..........

[ON]

Frowning in concern, Pola pushed herself away from the biobed as she indicated for him to take her place. "I'm sorry...let me see.." Placing her hand against the muscle, she was concerned as the tricorder hadn't shown anything. "Can you tell me where you feel it hurts? And is it just when you apply pressure?"

He sat down on the bed. "It's along a shoulder blade. It it's like a cross between an itch and an ache. It's the side that the grenade hit." He added with sudden bitterness.
"It's never really felt the same since. He rolled his shoulder under her hand hoping she might feel something that would give a hint to what was wrong. He looked over his shoulder at the doctor and chuckled. "It's nothing too serious, it could just be scaring...I really have no idea."

Feeling along the area indicated, Pola could feel the areas of the hardened scar tissue. "I'm going to do a more indepth scan if you don't mind. The scar tissue shouldn't be this intense in these areas. The scan will give me a better idea of how deep this goes, it sounds like it's pressing against your muscles. I should be able to give me a number of treatments using a dermal regenerator over the course of a week. It might not cure it but we can at least lessen the discomfort."

"Hey, the probably the best news I've heard all day Pola." He grinned wide. "Knock yourself out, I've nothing better to do today, scan away."

Blushing slightly, Pola turned away quickly as she moved across the room. The only convience of these medical centres was each room only contained 2-3 biobeds and the required equipment. Everything was within easy reach. "If you could just lie out straight out." Regaining her composure, she used the guide railings to bring to the sensor cluster across.

Her blush didn't escape Cyrus and he chuckled softly to himself. "Not a problem doc." He stretched out onto the bed laying on his stomach. The muscled marine winced slightly as he stretched out his arms and grunted as he heard her walk back over. "so how long have you been doing medical?" He asked, making conversation.

Situating the scanner across Cyrus' shoulder blades, Pola used one hand to gently ensure he was flat on the bed before activating the scanner. "This will only take a minute but I need you to hold completely still." Pausing for a moment as she watched the biobed monitor, seeing a three dimensional image of the surface layers of Cyrus' back start to appear. "Well I guess since I entered the acedemy at 18. I'm 28 now so I guess that is 10years now."

Cyrus grunted as he felt an odd prickling go along his shoulder. "10 years eh? I've been in the Marine corps for most of my career, but I did an extra year in the academy to get my security training. I switched back to security after the incident on the Fitz, needed some time away from that life. Too much of it, and too much violence of the degree can change a person for the worst." He fell quiet after a small period of time. "I've seen a lot of men and women lose themselves. Marines are hard, but if you get too hard, at least in my opinion, you lose what you are there to do."

Watching the monitor, Pola digested his words as she glanced down to where she could see the side of his face pressed the pillow. "Everyone looses themselves at some point in their life...it's how you handle it and come back from it shows who you truly are. You came back from something your records show you should never have survived...You're one of the stronger ones Cyrus, don't ever loose faith in that."

Realising the scanner was beeping indicating competition of the scan, Pola realised what she'd said. Moving the scanner back, she busied herself tyding it away before turning back to the biobed monitor, not meeting Cyrus' eyes. "It's as I thought...the scar tissue is deeper than it should be. It's pushing up against your deltoid muscle..." As she said the words, Pola traced from Cyrus' upper arm to his shoulder and alongside his collar bone. "It's misses the nerves and arteries thankfully so no worsening of pain or cut off of blood supply, just discomfort, particularly when you stretch or compress the muscle, pushing the scar tissue against it."

Cyrus let the words sink in, and smiled at the complement, as she finished up the scan. "Thanks, doc. I appreciate it, you should listen to yourself, it might help you too. They made the right choice when they made you a CMO."He waited patiently as she traced the line across his shoulder, listening to everything she was saying. He chuckled. "So in other words I got lucky then?" He rolled over and sat up on the biobed. Propping himself up with both arms so he could better face her. "So what now? You get to use the regen thing on my shoulder or what?" he asked as he tried to get a look at the monitor from the bed.

Blushing again, Pola occupied herself tilting the monitor to the side as she spotted where Cyrus' sight was focused. "I'm simple...I'll use a basic dermal regenerator, same you would use if you had a cut. I'll just deepen the beam so as it is focused in on the deep scar tissues. I can start it today, it will help ease the pressure and then if you come back each day for the next...lets say 3 days, we can do a second scan and evaluate if it's working and helping you in anyway."

Cyrus saw Pola blushing and couldn't resist. "Doc, you keep blushing like that you're gonna turn into a tomato." He chuckled and listened to her intently. He thought about the what she had said and nodded. "You know what, why not? It wouldn't make much sense to leave until another time eh?"

Things didn't go much better for Pola's blushing as she realised what she needed to say next. "Ah...I'm going to need you to remove you clothes.." Realising that had come out right, she stepped back in shock, "Upper clothes! Just upper..." Backing away further, Pola turned on her heel and headed for the door. "I need to get the equipment. I'll be right back." The Doctor found she couldn't get out quick enough as she leaned against the wall outside the room, resting her warm forehead against the cold surface.

Cyrus stopped, eyes wide, as he watched the doctor turn various shades of red, backing slowly away from him he burst out laughing. His laughter booming through the clinic.
He turned around and undid the top part of his uniform. He reached the hem of his shirt and pulled it easily over his head, revealing hard, toned muscle across his broad chest and shoulders and well sculpted arms. and tossed it on to a nearby chair

"Whenever you're ready doc." Cyrus called to her, repressing another burst of laughter.

As the sound of his laughter followed her, Pola actually realised suddenly that she felt hurt. She knew she'd made a complete idiot of herself, and she felt that the laughter was just salt in the wound. As she heard his voice, she still heard the element of laughter in his voice. Straightening back up, she reentered the room as she pulled down on her jacket. Avoiding seeing his body, she grabbed the regenerator from a side table. "If you could turn around, I can get started." Keeping herself occupied, she readjusted the beam of the regen.

He glanced over his shoulder to see her back, the beam in her hand and he nodded. "Alright, you're the lady." He turned to face her once again and smiled warmly. He took a few more steps until they were only a few inches apart. He was a good half head taller than she was. "So, how's this thing work? You want me to turn around like this?" He turned slowly so his back was to her.

Finally looking up, Pola felt herself getting warmer again as she realised how close of a proximity they were too each other. As he turned around her eyes were immediately drawn to a tattoo on his right shoulder. She raised her hand as if to brush her fingers across it but caught herself ontime as she forced herself to take a step backwards. "You..." Finding her throat had gone dry, the Doctor swallowed and tried again. "You're too tall. Can you sit on one of the chairs and it should help?"

He could feel her eyes boring into him as he moved to sit down on one of the chairs. She was sweet. Easy on the eyes too he thought to himself as she stood behind him. He spun the chair around and sat down reversing it so he could rest his arms on the back of it. " Is that better Doc?" He asked.

Pola started to realise that she was acting like a school child. His laughter from earlier was still in her mind and she realised she needed to start acting like the adult she really was. Clearing her throat she nodded her head before realising he couldn't see her. "That's perfect...thank you." Keeping a slight distance so as temptation didn't kick in again, the Doctor activated the regen in her hand, starting to carefully run it along Cyrus' upper shoulders and following it slowly across his back. "The effects won't be absolutely immediate but you should feel a slight loosening which will increase slightly as the day move on."

He grunted as he felt the prickling beam lance down his back. It wasn't long until the whole of it was finished. Despite wanting to reach back and scratch the itch he kept still. "I'm not complaining, I was only here for a lower dosage of sleeping meds, the free shoulder massage was an added bonus." He smiled as he spun around in the chair in order to face the young Irish doctor once more. "I owe you big time." He added gratefully. "You really know your stuff!" Realizing that he was still shirtless he chuckled.

"I should probably put this back on eh?" He caught a good look at Pola, she was definitely cute, he thought to himself. She's gone through hell though...she's tired, and stressed. He fought the sudden urge to brush her hair back and coughed, instead he reached for his shirt.

As she caught Cyrus' eyes, she felt her face redden again but only had it deepen further as she caught a glimpse of his chest and more tattoos. Nodding her head at his prompt, she found she couldn't find the words. Instinctively she pressed the back of her hand against the back of her reddened cheek before focusing on taking her time to disengage the regen, something which should only take a moment.

"Thanks for everything doc. I can't wait to come back...for another treatment." He explained. He through his shirt back on, dressed himself up as professionally as he could. As he made for the door, he couldn't help but turn around one last time. "You still owe me that drink, don't think I forgot, but if my shoulder is going to be feeling as good as you say it will, I might be the one buying you the drink." He chuckled once more.

Pola had managed to avoid looking at him as he left, only smiling as she realised part of her looked forward to seeing him for his next treatment. Looking up as he turned back, her eyes connected with his as she found she couldn't look away. Listening to his words, she smiled and nodded her head. Only she knew that she'd never find the confidence to take him up on his offer. Catching her bottom lip between her teeth, the Doctor studied him a moment more. "I'll let you know a good time."

He narrowed his eyes and pointed his finger. "I mean it, I had a lot of fun doc. It's not everyday I'm asked to get naked on a first date. " He winked and rolled his shoulder, which already didn't have an ache, just a tightness that would loosen as the day wore on. "You deserve to take some time for yourself, even heroes need rest." He brought two fingers to his forehead and gave a quick salute before stepping out into the evening.

Allowing himself to breathe evenly again he kept walking. "Damn she is cute. I don't think I've even enjoyed a doctor's appointment in my life." He said a little too loudly. "I wonder if she's single..."

Pola heard the start of his sentence but he got too far away to hear the rest. Looking down, she realised if her jacket had been of weaker material she would have probable torn it to shreds. Genuinely smiling for the first time in awhile, she forced her hands to separate and for her to start to cleanup. She'd see him tomorrow and she could take it from there.
