Eviess sat in the rocking chair of her Hotel room. Ever since the wedding of Varro and Blaze she'd been in a mood, especially since Varro had found out about the pregnancy. He'd tasked Saul with watching her like a hawk and, like Varro, Saul, his brother, was dedicated to the task.

He'd shown up early, made her breakfast, helped her pack, and now he was just reading while she sat and waited for the call that would end her Starfleet career.

Administrator First Class S'ranak smoothed his robes after verifying that he indeed had the correct room. He had been asked to handle the transfer of this individual from Fleet service to Vulcan. It was a big step and one that one did not take lightly. He took a deep breath and rang the chime.

Saul stopped his packing and headed to the door. He wiped his hands on his pants and scratched his Vulcan ears. Unlike Soral he'd gotten the Vulcan features more then the El Aurian ones. He opened the door and was greeted by a Vulcan robed man. He delivered the standard greeting, "Live long and prosper."

"Peace and long life," S'ranak replied. "I am here to interview Eveiss. I am informed she wished to come to Vulcan."

Saul stepped aside letting him in. He led S'ranak towards the family room area. "You are correct. She wishes to work on Vulcan. Currently she owns a clinic on the Lunar colony. She has family on Vulcan...well I will let her tell you."

They entered the grand family room with it's elaborate sofa and rocking chair. Eviess was sitting sipping tea feeling in a mood she'd rather not have. Pregnancy was messing with her hormones and she was sad one moment, happy the next, pensive, or hungry. She was also not liking the fact that Saul was doing her packing for her.

She looked up as the two entered. She stood after two attempts and look from one Vulcan to the other. "This is?"

"S'ranak, You were expecting him today." She rubbed her temples. "I thought what was on Satruday."

Saul stopped a sigh from escaping his lips. "Today is Saturday."

She looked momentarily taken aback. "Right. Hello Mr. S'ranak."

"Greetings. Are you sufficiently well enough for this interview?" he asked.

"Yes, quite alright. Please have a seat." She motioned to the chair in front. She had two interviews set up today. One with S'ranak and one with a Starfleet official that would giver her a brief chat and then her papers to show that she was no longer in Starfleet.

S'ranak took the indicated seat sitting stiffly. "I have come to delve into detail why you wish to go to Vulcan for an extended period. As you might know the culture is quite different from those that have....shall we say more expressive emotional culture. Many find that limiting and stifling and it can become a source of irritation and depression. Are you fully prepared for such a change in your life? And forgive me, but especially considering your current condition."

She smiled, "I grew up on Vulcan, my parent's are there. As for my condition, my children are of the Varro Family. If you'll look them up they are well known." She rocked her chair a bit and felt Saul hovering. He came in with tea. Taking her empty glass he gave her a full one and placed a warning hand on her shoulder.

"I am Saul Varro. These children she carries will be Varro family and are under my protection," he said taking the role of father. Soral had warned Saul to just stick to the facts. If he was pressed he'd say the children were his own. Soral had too many enemies.

S'narak nodded, but noted the slightly emotional outburst. It was obvious that though raised on Vulcan that some of the ways of Surak had rubbed off.

Still, he noted the clan, and had already researched it. A fine house that had long ties.

"May I inquire then as to leaving starfleet? Presumably it is logical to assume that it is to raise your family. Are they to be brought up in the ways of Surak?"

Saul stepped in, "They will be raised in the Vulcan ways. I have applied for a year's leave from Starfleet myself and will ensure that all protocols are followed by Vulcan standards." Saul was all Vulcan and in speaking like this he had taken on the role of the father, a role Soral should have taken.

Eviess eyed Saul and then spoke. "I have a clinic on the Lunar colony and it's doing quite well. I plan to open a second one on Vulcan."

"I see. Well I do not forsee any problems and will recommend formal approval of your application. That being said, if I may, I would like to attend the debriefing with Starfleet personnel."

"Of course," she said. "They are to come today as well. They should be here soon."

"Very good and thank you," S'narark replied. He settled a little more and waited.

Just as S'narark had finished talking the door chimed as if on cue. Saul excused himself to get the door. Eviess watched him go. She was struck by how Saul's presence over the last few days had been a calming effect on her. He had done all he could to help her. At first she had thought of him as her jailer and didn't understand why Varro insisted on him being with her 24 / 7. Now she welcomed him presence.

The dark-skinned Starfleet official finally spoke up in place of the Vulcan who'd just departed. She wore senior rank pips and sported a breast insignia of OPM, and she glanced at Eviess. "Petty officer, I understand this is a fluid time for you," she paused and looked at Saul, "but I need your resignation to be submitted in your own words. Not his. Why are you leaving fleet service?"

She motioned for the officer to sit down. "Please have a seat." She looked at S'narark and then the officer. "Where are my manners. Would you two like a drink?"

"No. Thank you," said the Starfleet lieutenant commander who awaited a response to her query. She took the nearest chair and unclipped her PADD from her belt.

Saul perched on Evie's chair.

Eviess looked at the Vulcan. "Would you like Vulcan Sider?"

"No thank you, I am satisfied," he replied.

Eviess smiled at the Fleet officer. "Now as to your question. I am leaving the Fleet because I feel like it's the right thing to do. In the last year I've realized that my private practice gave me more joy then I get working in the Fleet. I now have more to consider. I am pregnant and I want to raise my children."

It really was that simple. Plus being in private practice on Vulcan might be good for her. She still had her Lunar clinic so she was looking forward to the expansion. She missed just being a doctor.

Pregnant? "Oh... I see," said the Starfleet woman who must have missed that notation in her personnel review. "Well, congratulations. I think we can all appreciate wanting to settle down planet-side," she added with a small smile. "Are you sure you don't want to transfer to the reserve pool? You can do a couple years there and your maternity leave would cover the next six months," she proposed.

Eviess was only tempted for a moment, "I'm certain. I think that I need a break from Starfleet. After what the Galileo crew went through recently...I'm not sure if you've read the file but, after all that I think it's time I just rest and focus on my babies." She smiled and placed her hand protectively across her belly.

Saul stepped forward with a PADD. "We've filled out the paper work to finalize her exit and I will be on leave for the next year so I will be with her." He didn't know why he said it. It didn't add to the conversation nor was he asked but Saul...well Saul carried a secret; he'd been in love with Evie for a long time.

"The Vulcan government has approved their move to Vulcan, thus the only barrier is any ties to the service." S'narak injected.

"It'll take a couple weeks to process, but," the Starfleet officer nodded in confirmation, "you'll be out by the end of the month with your discharge."

Eviess let out a breath she wasn't aware she was holding. "Thank you. This is a bit of a difficult pregnancy to begin with so this added stress was not helping. She looked at the officer and stood giving the standard Starfleet salute. "Thank you for your kindness and for coming to see me." Once the Starfleet officer left all that was left was to finalize the clinic approvals with S'narak.

S'narak observed and waited. "Very well, it appears all is order. If you wish, I can begin the process of getting the licenses in place. Send me what you need and I will get the process started. I believe that you two would appreciate some time now alone."

Eviess was tired. It was funny how tired she got these days. "Yes, thank you."

Saul stood and walked S'narak to the door. He held out his hands with his middle and rink finger separated in a standard Vulcan greeting and gesture of farewell. "Thank you for coming and your assistance. Live long and prosper."

"Peace and long live to all of you, good day," S'narak replied with the salute and then turned. There was no logical reason to linger and there was everything to do to get the licenses in place.
