Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo, Personal Quarters
Timeline: MD81: 1630 Hours

Ensign Calin stepped into his new quarters and found the layout considerably familiar to those at the academy. Like academy quarters, it was designed for two. The main room consisted of living furniture, an access terminal, and basic amenities like a replicator. At one end of the room was the lavatory, while separate bedrooms on the opposite end ensured that Calin and his roommate would have some degree of privacy during their cohabitation.

Calin examined each bedroom and found the one that showed minimal signs of recent inhabitance before he began to unpack his things. With few personal affects in his possession, all it took Calin to empty his duffel bag was to arrange his duty uniforms and his dress uniform in the closet, place his undergarments in a small dresser, and position several containers of oils next to the night stand. It took less than five minutes for him to do so.

Lia entered the quarters and froze as she saw the Vulcan emptying out his dufflebag. Lia knew it was only a matter of time she'd be assigned a roommate. "Hello." Lia greeted.

Calin turned. Fascinating, he thought upon taking notice of her golden irises. As always, his face was an expressionless mask while he considered this, but he did nod in a courteous gesture. “Good afternoon, Ensign.” Calin welcomed in return. Straightening himself, he said, “I have been assigned to these quarters. My name is Calin.”

Lia nodded, "I'm Lia..." she replied almost nervously. "I guess we're roommates."

Calin nodded back.

"Is there anything I should know about your habits; for example, do you prefer to be alone when meditating?" Lia asked as she unzipped uniform jacket.

Calin considered it one of the few times a non-Vulcan had ever expressed any desire to accommodate, but was caught with reserved surprise as she took her jacket off. It was informal. He put his hands behind the small of his back, standing in an approximate at-ease. "I prefer a minimum of three hours meditation each day. The main living area would be preferable, but I am willing to spend my meditation in my bedroom if the incense is too potent."

"As long as it doesn't sets off the fire suppression system, it'll be fine with me." Lia replied as she walked towards her bed. "You currently off duty or about to report in?" She asked.

Taking that as a sign that he was free to resume his optimization, Calin went back to his things. "I have already reported to Lieutenant Benice. She recommended that I 'settle in' before the Galileo gets under way." He turned to face the golden-eyed woman. "And you?"

"I just got off duty; and since I wasn't hungry I decided to return home. I must confess, I thought I lucked out and got a room to myself." She chuckled at the thought and then quickly added, turning to face the Vulcan, "though please don't confuse that statement with any displeasure with having you as a roommate. I actually feel lucky to have a Vulcan as one."

"Why is that?" Calin asked.

"Your thoughts are softly muzzled and in a way soothing." She explained with a shrug. "Easier to relax with them."

Calin studied her. "You are a telepath?" He said, using the power of deduction.

Lia nodded, "Yes... can't turn it off, so had to adapt." She smiled looking at him. "Hope that doesn't bother you, I try to be as open as I can with people."

"Not at all," Calin answered. "But perhaps we should discuss proper etiquette for our living conditions."

"Ground rules..." She replied nodding, "Do you have a list of do's and don'ts that you would like me to follow?"

“I would prefer an acceptable degree of modesty at all times,” Calin said, having no desire to see an woman stalking al natural towards her bedroom after a shower. “And quarters should be maintained in accordance with regulation and protocol.”

"So.. don't walk around naked and keep place clean. Excellent rules. I accept." Lia smirked as she glanced at him, "I feel more comfortable about you already."

Calin raised an eyebrow. “I am pleased to hear you say that. Now do you have any requests?” He asked next. She’d already stated that his meditation wouldn’t be disruptive, but wanted to see if there were any other would-be concerns.

Lia shook her head, "Nope, just be open if there is something I'm doing that is bothering you."

“That will not be an issue,” Calin answered matter-of-factually.

Lia smirked as turned her attention to her side of the room. "This assignment just gets more fun." she whispers to herself.
