Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo - Lirha's Quarters, Deck 1
Timeline: MD3 - 0600 Hours

[ON]

A few hours later...

Lirha's bedside alarm chirped when the chronometer reached 0600, and a green arm reached out from under the sheets to quickly turn it off. A brief movement below the covers then ensued as the Orion slowly began to awaken, and eventually her head popped up out of the sheets with her eyes barely open. She could feel a warm body pressed very close against her, much to her comfort.

"Hi," Gyce spoke somewhat groggily as she opened her eyes and moved so that she met her girlfriend's eyes.

The groggy and discombobulated sensation Lirha now felt was very undesirable, and she mumbled something barely audible in her native tongue before closing her eyes again and curling herself into Gyce's arms. She began to recall the previous night's indulgences, and quickly decided that she would be taking the day off from work. Galileo was still in transit and there was little for a mission advisor to do while they waited to arrive at Starbase 84.

"..Go back to sleep..." she whispered affectionately to Gyce.

"Only for another hour," Gyce paused to yawn. "...G-g-got to be on shift this morning." She did not want to go, not with knowing this relationship had finally took hold.

Lirha did not approve of that idea, and instead had a better alternative. "...Not today...I will tell Holliday that you are unavailable for your shift while you assist me with security matters."

"All right... But I still want to go see the CMO near the start of shift," Gyce yawned, then hugged Lirha's tightly. "Then I'll come back here and we can cuddle even more."

Shifting slightly into Gyce's embrace, Lirha suddenly winced when a sharp throbbing pain began to pulse from between her legs. Her discomfort was now visible, and she groaned quietly. "Fine...but I think I need a cold compress before you leave..."

"I do too. My leg's killing me," Gyce admitted as she moved it. Sharp pins moved throughout her leg, reminding her that her nerves were very much alive and stimulated. "I'll get us both one, and a towel to set them on."

Gyce kissed Lirha's forehead once before she gingerly rolled out of bed and blindly palmed for her cane. Then just as gingerly she walked to the replicator to get their numbing supplies.

Lirha reopened her eyes and snuck a long look at Gyce's nude backside. She admired her curvy frame and plump bottom, then smiled to herself while recalling the vigor with which she made love to her the previous evening. Despite the current discomfort, she would be happy to have done it all over again.

Gyce snuck a similar look back to Lirha as well. One that took in the orion's lovely curves and allowed Gyce to indulge in many fantasies. Once her replicator was done, however, Gyce returned with the ice packs and towels.

"Here you go, My Love." Gyce smiled as she pulled the covers down just enough to sit the towel over Lirha's privates. Then just as gently she sat the icepack on top.

"Do you want to keep our relationship a secret still?" Gyce asked as she laid down, placed the other towel on her thigh, and set an ice pack on it.

It was a good question, and Lirha appreciated the discreetness that her lover had thus far shown. "For now, yes." she answered, sighing and rolling onto her back with her legs spread to let the cool compress tend to her soreness. "I feel it would send the wrong impression to the rest of the crew."

"...Stace knows," Gyce spoke, a bit panicked. "At least, she knows we spent the night together, after that Klingon dinner. Mostly because I was having a crisis of faith."

Lirha propped herself up on her forearms and looked at Gyce with scrutiny. "You...told her? About us?" Lirha wanted to ask why, but before she jumped the gun, first wanted to find out how much the commander knew about their relationship.

"You were married," Gyce pointed out with tears. "I don't generally take anyone I just meet, to bed. And being married, it bothered me something fierce... So I had to talk to someone. Stace is really the only friend I've made, thus she was the only one I felt I could talk to at the time."

A heavy sigh escaped Lirha's lips and she looked down towards the sheet. Her fingers fidgeted with a piece of the smooth fabric before finally looking back up towards her partner after a long, silent moment. When she saw the tears in the Bajoran's eyes, she couldn't help but sympathize. "It is okay. I understand," she said. She didn't fully understand, but she could at least sympathize, for part of it was her own fault for being a married woman who participated in infidelity.

"Come to me," she then said, reaching out to Gyce to console and hug her.

Gyce sniffed a few times as she hugged her lover. "...She only knows of the one night. She does not know anything more, and I shall keep it that way if you want."

Lirha reached up and stroked the back of Gyce's neck beneath her hair with her fingernails in slow circular motions. "You Bajorans are such strange people," she teased. "So set on your principals and the teachings of the prophets."

"They teach me to be good," Gyce laughed gingerly, for Lirha was good at making her smile. "They kept me fighting, when all hope seemed gone."

"Mm...and what do they teach you about me?" she wondered, looking lovingly into Gyce's brown eyes.

Mockingly, Gyce took hold of Lirha's right ear and closed her eyes with a humored grin. "They say you're a sexually depraved female, destined to keep walking said path."

Lirha giggled and nodded. Perhaps the prophets were wise after all. "That sounds...accurate."

Now, however, was as good a time as ever to change the subject, and the more she talked to Gyce and became intimate with her body and feelings, the more she felt the pressing need to reveal a rather important aspect of herself. With a soft sigh, she pulled away from her a bit and looked down. "Gyce, I need to tell you something," she prefaced in a serious voice.

Gyce too, sat up so she could absorb whatever terrible news was coming her way. Yet, once Gyce sat the ice pack back on her thigh, she realized she needed to project a strong, supportive presence. So Gyce took a deep breath and reached out to hold both of Lirha's hands.

"I can handle whatever it is you need to tell me, My Love." Gyce smiled warmly to Lirha to send that point home.

"I...," Lirha began in a quiet voice, "...am pregnant. With twins." She didn't know what else to add, for that pretty much summed up the enormity of her revelation.

That... Gyce did not expect or was prepared to handle that bit of news. Even more tears hit her, and she found herself sick to her stomach.

"We..." Gyce swallowed hard, and steeled herself for a tone that brokered no fight. "We need to take you to the CMO. To see if the babies are all right. So after my appointment, I am coming back here and we are going down together."

Lirha didn't quite understand the request, but also wasn't opposed to the idea of a checkup. However, she was hardly in a state to walk to sickbay, and definitely had no desire to reveal her sexual bruises to Warraquim. "I do not want to be seen like this," Saalm protested with a shake of her head. "Tomorrow we can go..."

"What I did..." Gyce stammered, now in a full panic. "You didn't... Why didn't you tell me before? ...I c-c-could of h-h-h-hurt them."

The look of distress in Gyce's eyes caused Lirha to swallow a heavy lump in her throat. She hadn't properly thought through the repercussions of their rough play in bed, and now she could understand the woman's trepidation. "...I am sorry..." she whispered, barely able to meet her eyes. "I did not think it would be so...intense."

Gyce leaned over to retch into the bin by the nightstand. The only thought was that if those babies were hurt in any way, she was looking at a very sever assault charge. Not to mention the fact Lirha valued her pleasure over the safety of her twins.

The more Gyce's mind raced through all these new and terrible revelations and feelings, the worse her stomach got. She felt so weak from both the emotional shock and vomiting, that Gyce plopped on the floor and kept vomiting until all that came out of her stomach was burning, clear acid that only sought to burn her esophagus.

Lirha watched with horror at what Gyce was doing. She wasn't sure why she had become so violently ill, but perhaps it was the fear that she had hurt Lirha's unborn daughters? The Orion thought that damage to her womb was highly unlikely especially due to the different physiology of her species, but what she thought really didn't matter at this point. "There is a medical tricorder in my nightstand...you may scan my if it will make you feel better?" she offered, unsure of what to say or do.

Gyce used her towel to wipe her face and then unsteadily stood up with the aid of her cane. Her reddened eyes looked upon Lirha. Anger, anguish, and guilt.

The offer of the tricorder was a trap. Deny it, and it would deny the relationship. Accept it, and it would force Gyce to ignore all the feelings she was currently feeling. No matter if those kids were fine, Gyce still took part in something that could have caused them harm.

"Allyndra should do it. Tomorrow," Gyce said, sniffed several times, and then limped painfully into the bathroom to clean her face. It was the only action she could make that took the middle ground.

"Are you mad at me?" Lirha called out, hoping she hadn't upset her. She really hadn't meant to cause such a big issue. If anything, she had thought Gyce would have had questions about the babies' lineages.

"I am..." Gyce answered with the dull echo from the bathroom's acoustics. "You had me harm you without telling me what I was walking into."

It was said more with a shocked tone, than an angry one. And when she emerged from the bathroom, there was tear streaks all on her face.

"What if I had harmed them?" Gyce asked to Lirha while she limped very weakly back over to the bed. "I love you, Lirha, but that's not a secret you just withhold until after your body's had the kosst beat out of it. Not when you are responsible for those two cute babies in your belly."

"Gyce," Lirha wasn't sure how to respond, but tried to offer a bit of solidarity, "I did not mean to upset you. I am...sorry," she said before looking back down to the sheets with sadness. "My species is more physically resilient than most...I did not think it would be a problem." If her green skin tone which had been developed over thousands of years to combat intense levels of natural sun radiation wasn't enough evidence, the physical prowess of Orion males and many of their females was also prevalent. But nevertheless, Lirha realized that she had not been the shining example of a mother which Gyce desired.

She didn't say anything else, and instead rolled over on to her side and laid her head down. She closed her eyes and fought back the wetness which was creeping into her shut eyelids.

"Rest, My Love." Gyce limped back over and kissed the top of Lirha's head. "You need to heal. Sleep will help do that," Gyce spoke as she ran her fingers through Lirha's hair one last time before she stood upright and went to find her clothes.

She had a lot of steam she needed to work off. And an appointment she needed to prepare for. Hopefully, by that time, most of the anger would leave her system. But right now, she was beyond angry. And she did not want to go back to bed with her girlfriend, lit like a nova bomb.
