Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo - Sickbay
Timeline: MD 08 - 0800

ON:

Eva rolled out of bed, cold from Naois not being in bed beside her and missing her family. The last week had been a flurry of shift work and visiting Naois in sickbay as they worked to patch the ship up, and save Naois' hand. On the ship front the news was at least good. Naois however, not as much.

Yesterday they'd had to amputate his hand as it was beyond saving. Now today he was deemed well enough to leave sickbay into her care, or he would be released if his condition improved enough.

It didn't take long for her to change into something a bit more comfortable then her uniform and even put on a little something to make her feel more ladylike.

[sickbay]

Not having slept well, Naois was long since awake and sitting up in bed. He was anxious to go home now since it somehow hadn't happened the previous evening. He watched the door like a hawk, waiting for Eva.

The walk from quarters to sickbay was a quick walk, one she'd made numerous times since the ship came back through the portal. She didn't know if Naois was awake or not but as she entered, it became obvious he was already awake.

Eva glanced at his bandaged arm briefly before she reached up and gave him a kiss. "I'd ask if your ready but I think I already know the answer."

"Please, take me home," Naois begged of his wife, "I have prescription medication and I am ready to go. I was to wait for you." unlike her, he didn't look at his missing hand.

Eva nodded. "I've been given the week off. Ship's in good hands for now." She smiled. "Now let's spring you from this place shall we?" Helping her husband off the biobed and onto his feet, she could feel some weakness in his gait as he stood on his feet.

Naois felt unbalanced as he got out of bed and instinctively reached out to catch himself. He knew deep down there was nothing wrong with his balance but the feeling remained. He clung to Eva like a frightened child.

The walk from sickbay back to their quarters was short enough, but with Naois leaning and holding onto her, his weight and size difference made the walk a bit harder on Eva. It was with some relief that she finally got him back to their quarters, as much for his sake as for hers.

When the door closed behind them Eva stopped, holding her husband as words escaped her.

The Vulcan counsellor just stood there, leaning over to rest his head against her shoulder. "Thank you," he whispered brokenly, "I could not stay there any longer."

Eva held Naois against her, not wanting to leave him ever again. She whispered into his ear, quietly her voice almost breaking. "I love you Naois."

Naois just sobbed, reality crashing down on him despite the sedation. "Do not leave me," he whispered as she led him to the couch, "do not leave me alone, I cannot be alone. Not now." He tried to hide his bandaged stump from her, keeping it covered with his other arm. "Do not leave me... please..." His plea had more to it than just her leaving his line of sight. He was terrified she might leave him altogether.

Eva helped Naois onto the couch then sat down beside him, letting him rest his head on her shoulder. She noticed him trying to hide his injury and in deference to his implied wish, Eva didn't say anything, letting him have his peace. Wrapping an arm around she whispered, "I'm not going anywhere Naois. I'm off duty until you are feeling well again."

Naois just closed his eyes, willing the feeling of panic away. He said nothing, only trying to let his wife's presence comfort him.
