Mission: Episode 09 - Empires
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 3, Sickbay
Timeline: MD07 - 1700 hours

[ON]

Restrained to a biobed, Tuula turned to face Allyndra, who was restrained next to her. "She's mad," whispered Tuula. "What do you think she's going to do to us?"

"I do not know..." Allyndra replied. She was uncertain as well but the look in the other Tuula's eyes did not bode well.

Tuula struggled against her restraints once more and sobbed in frustration. Not only was she tied up, in sickbay, but it was her mirror universe clone who was tormenting her. Even though it wasn't her, she couldn't help but feel somewhat guilty over whatever it was that her evil twin from the mirror universe had in store for her and Allyndra.

Returning from the Chief Medical Officer's office, from where she had been perusing medical logs and the ship's research database, the mirror Tuula looked down at the two subjects before her. An Akkadian and an identical genetic clone. Either one of those subjects would be valuable, but both...

"Good day, number fifty-five, number fifty-six," she said as she slowly and painfully walked over with the assistance of her exoskeleton, "I see you've been doing some fascinating research. Tissue regeneration, ancient Akkadian secrets..." She let out a wicked grin. "Why don't you share with me what you know?"

"Pretty much what you see. Regeneration was something a long ago A'ksu figured out. I got permission to borrow the research notes but they are in Akkadian that is very old and the symbols and language has changed. I have been having trouble deciferring the exact works." That was all true what she did not say was that she had trashed or locked away a bunch of stuff and the book itself was somewhere in the archaeologists hands.

"Don't take me for a fool," replied mirror Tuula, glaring at Allyndra. "I'm a doctor, just like you. I know you're hiding something from me. I want access to all of your data on regeneration. And your notes."

"There was one experiment not completely successful on Lieutenant Commander Kohl. The genes were rejected and not completing the process. I have not done anything more until I could decipher the notes. I have not had the time to work on more than a bit of what was written. No one has looked at the old stuff in a very long time nor has been given permission to even look at it until recently. The console is unlocked, look yourself." Allyndra replied. While there had been more there was not that much more. This Tuula acted as if everything in the world was ready at hand.

"I've been through your console," shot back mirror Tuula. "You think you can hide things from me? Where are your notes? This book of yours? I want it."

"The book and notes I gave to one of our archaeologists. I would guess either in the science labs or in a private room somewhere on this ship. As I said we have not looked at such things in many many generations. So there are Akkadians here?" Allyndra interest was piqued.

Mirror Tuula smiled. Allyndra was reminding her more of number thirty-seven by the minute. "Of course; in fact I am quite... familiar... with your counterpart." She glanced over at Tuula, who was glaring at her.

"Allow me to be frank for a moment," stated mirror Tuula. "I know what you're taught about the mirror universe. That we're a bunch of bloodthirsty, merciless killers. But we're just like you. And I'm only trying to advance medical science and find a way to cure people like myself and your friend here," she added, glancing over at Tuula with contempt for the weaker, more pathetic version of herself.

"Akkadian DNA and medical science is the most promising lead I've had." Suddenly, a switch flipped in mirror Tuula's head and she was all over Allyndra, grabbing her by the jaw. "I need your book and your notes. All of it."

"The noooteeesss.....such as.......they are...." Allyndra had a hard time speaking from being held that way. "Are........what you see. The book......itself is in the.........science department.........someplace along with.......any translation I managed..........to make."

Tuula released Allyndra and looked over at two of the guards. "I want you to find me her notes. Turn the entire science department upside down if you have to. In the meantime..."

A wicked grin appeared on her face as Tuula looked over at her two subjects. "There is a lot we can learn from you two..." she added, flicking a laser scalpel off an on.

Allyndra looked at the scalpel. "You are not serious?" She soon learned just how serious.
