Mission: Episode 07 - Sojourn
Location: USS Galileo, Deck 3, Brig
Timeline: MD-24, 1630 hours

ON:

Tyrion had walked between the guards in silence, his head bowed and tears still flowing down his cheeks. He had confessed to the doctor remembered doing it but what would happen with him now, he didn't know.

"Ensign Faye?" Aria asked as she stood by the brig, watching him. She had made sure he had a blanket and a hot drink...to try and calm him. He still looked upset. She deactivated the forcefield. "Come and sit with me. We'll do the interview."

Feeling numb, Tyrion stepped out of the cell and sat down where indicated. He was nursing the hot tea between his cold hands, but made no move to take a sip from it. He looked tense, nervous but most of all, devestated. "Yes ma'am," he murmured, "I'll answer what I can."

Aria nodded and motioned for him to follow her. "That's all I ask, Faye," she said gently.

He followed her and sat down where indicated. "I feel bad ma'am," he started, "I know that I did this, but I'm no murderer ma'am, that's not my character..."

Aria watched him before taking a breath. "Computer, record today's date and time. This is the interview of Ensign Tyrion Faye. Present is Lt. JG Aria Rice," she said, for the record. "Ensign Faye, tell me what happened, in your own words."

"I.." The Betazoid hesitated, closing his eyes. "I went to look for Tyrek, invite him for dinner. He was very skittish but he was allowing my attempts to romance him. You see, he's a Vulcan but he wasn't like any Vulcan. I was helping him with his telepathy, he couldn't control it, he had no mental shielding worth mentioning so I was helping him build them."

He drew in a deep breath. "I remember having a knife with me, but I don't know why. I don't really know why I would carry one as I'm never armed with anything. I found him in his lab and he was happy to see me, I... I reached out to hug him, and then I stabbed him." Tears spilled down his cheeks at the memory, his words filled with remorse and guilt. "I injured myself and called security. I must've passed out for a while and when I woke up, I remembered nothing. I fought to keep the investigation going when leads turned up nothing. I wanted nothing more, than to find who killed him."

Aria watched him, her own features still as she studied him. "Do you remember the events of the day leading up to that moment?" she asked him, to get a full picture of it all.

Tyrion nodded. "It was a normal day like any other. Getting up, work shift, go off duty. Nothing out of the ordinary. I don't remember specific details, just the generic ones but insofar I can remember, nothing was off or strange in any way. The days before though, I was captured by a Romulan officer, and tortured. Me and someone else, after my fellow officers had rescued the chief medical officer, who was half Romulan, from the claws of the guy who then captured me."

Aria nodded as she made mental notes, watching him for a long moment. "And what was your mental state at the time? Had you been seen by a counsellor after your capture?"

"Yes ma'am. I was, because it was required if I wanted to return to duty. I was doing okay at the time, but I crashed when Tyrek was killed."

She frowned at the words. Okay, so he had been tortured and let out of sickbay? And a counsellor thought it was okay? Someone had dropped the ball on this one. "How many days before had you been tortured?"

"I don't quite recall ma'am. A few...three or four? I don't know ma'am. I wasn't really badly hurt, a little bruised I think. It should be in my medical file."

Aria nodded as she watched him, holding his eyes. "Did you kill him, Ensign Faye?" she asked gently.

"Kill who? The Romulan who tortured me? No ma'am, I didn't. Did I kill Tyrek..." He looked down at his hands. "Yes ma'am, I killed him."

She nodded and stood, moving to his side. "Interview ended," she said gently. "Come on. No more questions, I am going to let you rest."

Tyrion stood, casting her a more than confused look. He had expected more questions, but he was indeed tired and exhausted and his head was starting to pound again. "yes ma'am," he answered meekly, which was quite contrary to his normal behaviour towards women in superior roles.

She got him back into the brig and walked to her desk, frowning as she sat down. She did her report and sent it, sitting back. It was now up out of her reach.
