ON:

Two days after accepting Eva's proposal and bonding with her, Naois now lay exhausted on his bed, his arms drawn around the young half-Trill woman. Most of his needs had been seen to, and the mating drive was waning now. He groaned under his breath as he moved, only now coming back to some sense of lucidity. The last forty-eight hours were mostly a blur, but now he got back to his senses he could feel what strenuous activity he had engaged in. He was sore and of all things, in pain!

"Eva?" he murmured, gently stroking her hair. "Eva, are you alright?"

Eva slowly came to, the feeling of someone in bed beside her. As she slowly regained her faculties Eva rolled over slowly, her body protesting every movement. She could feel his hand in her hair and she smiled up at Naois with a pained expression. "I am Naois. Hurts a bit but I'm okay."

Reaching out, Eva pulled her naked lover closer to her, wanting to enjoy his touch one last time before they went their separate ways. A slight groan came from her lips, a mix of pleasure but more so of pain from her protesting body, as she pulled him closer. Kissing him, she ran a finger over his ear. "It was worth the pain Naois."

"You are hurt..." carefully he sat up. "I hurt you," he continued mournfully, sensing her pain. "How bad?"

Eva lay back on the bed. "Naois. Do not feel bad. I am in pain, but I knew and expected this would happen." She paused. She could feel various aches and pains all over her body. "Perhaps we should see a doctor?"

The Vulcan nodded, tenderly touching her cheek. "I will page one," he whispered to her, while carefully covering her up with the remains of one of the sheets, wrapping it around her. Then he slipped out of bed, donning a bathrobe himself, groaning under his breath as he searched for his communicator. "Doctor Mercy to sickbay, I need a medic in my quarters. Please bring a full kit...we are...in no physical condition to leave. "

"We?" asked Tuula over her comm badge.

"Affirmative," Naois replied, sitting back down on the bed to watch over his mate.

"Er... how many persons need medical assistance down there?" asked Tuula as she made her way to a storage locker.

"Two," Naois replied without further elaboration.

Eva gratefully took the torn remains of the bedsheet, adjusting it a bit to better cover herself. She was hurting and really could care less how the doctor saw her, but Naios' desire to protect her modesty was just another example of how much he cared about Eva.

The door chime echoed throughout Dr. Mercy's quarters. "Doctor! You called?"

"Come in doctor," Naois replied. He listened to the door sliding open and shut, admitting the disabled physician. "In the bedroom doctor," he called out.

Tuula quickly propelled herself through Naois' quarters to the bedroom. Upon entering, she was greeted with the sight of one of her colleagues in bed with a woman, and covered in bruises. "Ah... doctor... I see you've been... busy," she said awkwardly as she made her way to the side of the bed, with some difficulty due to the torn clothes strewn all over the floor. She decided she would just treat this as just like other house call; the same way she would react to a patient who slipped in the sonic shower. She waved her tricorder over the doctor first. "So, how did you injure yourself?" she asked, immediately regretting the question.

Naois arched a single eyebrow at her, wincing as he did so. "I did not injure myself," he answered stiffly, "she did, while in the throes of Pon Farr."

"Oh," said Tuula. Pon Farr... she had heard about it, and fortunately had yet to have to deal with a Vulcan patient undergoing it. At the very least, she knew that it was something that most Vulcans don't like to talk about. "I see. Well, you've got a number of bruises and numerous muscle sprains; but nothing that the regenerators and a painkiller won't fix. Are you allergic to metorapan, doctor?"

"Negative," the Vulcan replied before brushing her off. "I would
prefer if you treat her first," he insisted.

"All right, let me just give you something for the pain," replied Tuula as she whipped out a hypospray of metorapan. "All right, madam, where does it hurt?" she asked as she injected Naois with the painkiller.

Eva sat up with some difficulty, wincing as she sat, her arm holding the tattered cloth over her body. "Pretty much everywhere Ma'am. It hurts to move, and I have some sharp pain on my right side when I breathe."

"It sounds like you may have bruised a rib," said Tuula as she made her way to the other side of the bed, albeit with some slight difficulty navigating the mess of clothes. "Or maybe cracked it."

Tuula shook her head as she pulled up alongside the patient. Moments like there were why she was sworn to doctor-patient confidentiality. Normally a good bedside manner dictated that she would engage in a bit of small talk, but she wasn't sure if this was the sort of bed they were referring to. Or what she could talk about. "So..." she started as she began scanning Eva, "have you two been... together... for a while?"

Eva looked at Naois before she answered. She could be trusted? "Not exactly. Dr Mercy was suffering from the effects of the Pon'farr. I happen to have some experience in treating the condition, and offered to help."

"I... see," replied Tuula, realizing that this was not a line of questioning she wanted to pursue. "All right, you've got a compound fracture of the right radius, two fractured ribs, torn ligaments, strained tendons and several bruises, contusions and scratches." As she pulled out an osteo-regenerator, she shook her head at the rather long list of injuries. "I'd lecture you about being more careful, but I'm not sure that would make a difference in this case."

Eva grinned through the pain. "Don't think so. Injuries come with the territory."

"I tried to apply as much control as I could to limit the damage," Naois explained, "but I was not entirely successful. I did not come out of it unscathed either." He shifted on the bed, relieved that the painkiller was kicking in.

"Usually when you're engaging in this sort of vigorous activity, you should be using a safeword," replied Tuula, intently focused on adjusting the settings of the osteo-regenerator. "I mean... that's just good practice... or so I'm told..." she added, blushing slightly. When she got this call, she didn't expect to be the one to be blushing.

Eva blushed a little. "Safewords don't always work in this situation. There's this urge brought on by the meld that tends to override any conscious thought of anything but the Pon'farr. It's just how it is."

"She is correct," Naois elaborated reluctantly. "A safeword would have been illogical, as the drive overrides all sanity and lucidity. We have not been ourselves for two full days, and I can barely remember any of it. There were only brief moments of lucidity, and those were moments of rest." He paused. "We have consumed very little in terms of food."

"Two days..." mused Tuula aloud. "Never mind. Eva, I'm going to have to remove your sheet there to treat you, is that okay?"

"It is, yes." Eva shifted slightly, removing the sheet from her body so the Doctor could see to treat her.

"All right, I'm going to repair your fractured ribs," started Tuula as she pulled the sheet off of her, exposing her chest. "You may feel a tingling sensation..."

For the next hour, Tuula slaved over various regenerators, scanners, and other medical instruments, repairing the damage that Naois and Eva had done during their time of passion. Bruises, strains, sprains, and even the odd fracture disappeared under her diligent care.

As a doctor, Tuula was trained to be professional in these sort of situations. The patients had to trust her to look after their medical needs even in embarrassing situations such as this. And for that to happen, she would have to treat them without judgement. Still, there was something a little unsettling about seeing one of her colleagues in such a compromising position, and she hoped it wouldn't make things awkward at work for the next little while. Not to mention the fact that this probably ranked in the top three of the most embarrassing injuries that the young doctor had seen in her career so far.

"All right, I'm going to have to ask you two to take it easy for a couple days," said Tuula as she finished regenerating the last of Naois' bruises. "You're still going to be a bit tender, so I would wait a little while before you engage in any... strenuous physical activity."

"That part has passed," Naois reassured their physician, "there is no further requirement." He turned towards her, reaching for Eva's hand. "Doctor, I appreciate you coming here and I can sense your embarrassment. There is no need for that, we trust on your discretion but if you feel you need to, you can discuss this with a counselor if you feel that helps." He looked to Eva. "I know we probably should..."

Eva wasn't sure why a counselor would be needed after this as the coupling, while physically demanding, went well and the mind meld had broken as it should. But Naois knew Vulcans better then she did, and was a qualified doctor to boot.

"All right, it sounds like I'm done here," said Tuula as she packed her doctor's bag. "You two should get something to eat, and if you have any complications, don't hesitate to contact me."

"We will doctor, thank you for seeing us so promptly. It is appreciated," Naois offered. "And of course, you may report this ah..incident to your mentor, likely he will want to discuss this with you. If you need to..."

"I'm sure Dr. Mott will have much to say," replied Tuula. "Though... I think doctor-patient confidentiality demands a certain discretion in this case, wouldn't you agree, doctor?"
