Mission: Episode 07 - Sojourn
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 04, Section 19, Room 16 - Lt Mercy's Quarters
Timeline: MD-20, 1700hrs

ON:

[Outside Lt Mercy's Quarters]

Eva stood by the door, ready to press the chime. Butterfly's ran through her stomach as she paused a moment to go through her head what she was doing here. A fellow crewmember, a part Vulcan, was suffering through Pon'farr and she'd agreed to assist with the more physical aspects of his condition. It wasn't out of the ordinary for Eva to be a bit looser then most when it came to romance as she was a bit of a free spirit and enjoyed the 'game' (as she called it).

This however was different, and unlike most, she was here out of consideration for a fellow being, not for what she could get from the excitement of the chase. In respect for Lt Mercy, Eva toned down her usual choice of outfits to something a little more appropriate, something one would wear to visit a close friend, not when bar crawling.

Taking the plunge, Eva pressed the chime and waited for an answer.

"Come..." The Vulcan's voice was muffled from behind the closed door, which slid open upon the single command. Like Eva, Naois was dressed casually this time, which gave him a wholly different appearance. His quarters showed evidence of the presence of children under normal circumstances, with the odd toy being strewn about here and there. The walls were soft pastel colours, and on the whole the furniture was opposite of the usual austere choosings of a Vulcan.

"I have taken the liberty of replicating dinner," he offered, gesturing towards the dinner table. "I would not...take advantage of you just like that. Not just like that." He shook his head as he held a chair back for her. "I am grateful for you doing this, please understand that. Once we...bond...there will not be much time for conversation. The plak tow will overcome you as well and you will want very little beyond just to mate. The bond, it will be temporary, or at least I will attempt it. If I fail, we can see someone to assist us in the severing of it." He realised he was starting to babble, barely giving her any chance to respond.

Eva accepted the gesture from Naois and sat down. "Do not feel you are taking advantage of me. As I said earlier I have some experience with the plak tow which is why I offered." Eva smiled. Beneath the Vulcan exterior, the man was actually quite charming. "And I do appreciate the gesture of a meal Naois."

He cast her an embarrassed grin. "I have done this once before, seven years ago. I learned then that eating something beforehand is necessary as once we bond we will not have much lucidity to even remember food. There will be only us, as you may recall."

He walked over to the replicator and produced two servings of vegetarian spinach lasagna. "What can I get you to drink?"

"A glass of water will be fine thank you." Eva accepted the plate he put before her and the glass. Taking a sip once he'd sat down opposite her, Eva took the first few bites of her meal. "I understand you have children."

Taking a small bite, Naois nodded. "Three. Two boys, Revan and Delon and one girl, Laura. They are all of different races as they are adopted. Revan, my oldest is Betazoid, Delon is Romulan and Laura is Human. Do you have, or want children?"

"I don't have any children. As far as want, I can't say I specifically want or don't want children. I'm still in my late 20's and I just haven't gotten to that place in life where I want to settle down yet." Eva took another bite. "I also realize that some of my lifestyle choices, and this choice to help you with the Plak Tow, bring with it a risk that I may get pregnant and I accept that."

Abandoning his food, Naois moved closer to her, stroking the top of her hand with two fingers. "There is that," he acknowledged, "but should that happen you will not have to worry about anything. I accept that responsibility and you will lack nothing." He turned her hand over and traced her index and middle finger with his own, down across her palm. His eyes never left her face as he repeated the pattern.

Eva nodded. "Thank you." Eva knew what was expected when Naois took her hand in his own. The trace was the opening ritual of Plak Tow, and when he finished, Eva took her fingers and traced the same pattern on his hand. Pausing at the end, Eva waited for the next part of the ritual.

Naois gasped as she returned the pattern, his blue eyes darkening in anticipation. He reached up tracing the rounding of her ear, leaning in closer towards her, eyes smouldering with emotion. He said nothing, letting his actions speak for themselves. He traced her other ear with his other hand.

Eva followed Naois' lead in the ritual, her hand running across his ear, following the slight point of his ear before ending at the lobe. The next part of the meld she had to lead, even though she was not a telepath. Moving her hand she placed her fingers along the points of Naois' face where a meld would be intiated, and waited for Naois to respond in kind.

Breathing harshly, the doctor lifted his left hand and placed his fingers over the katra points on the right side of her face. "My mind to your mind," he breathed, starting the incantation as he closed his eyes. He linked their minds together, sharing the fire in his blood with her, she felt what he felt, he felt what she felt. He hoped the link was stable enough, but also would deteriorate in a few days. He had never tried this angle before.

After a few seconds, even though it seemed an eternity, he dropped his hand down onto her shoulder, tracing the line of her collar. "Are you ready?" he whispered, tracking his hand down the front, fingers tightening carefully on the fabric of her shirt as if he was literally going to rip it apart.

Eva took a moment to reply as she took in the rush of emotions, the very fire of Naois' blood. She'd forgotten how deep Vulcan emotion ran beneath their calm exterior and the flood was like a physical onslaught. Her breath grew more ragged with each passing second as she recovered. Eva took Naois hand in her own, her voice overflowing with the desire that the blood fever brought into her heart. "I am."

Rising from the chair, Naois took her hand and led her to the bedroom. "I apologize in advance, for possibly hurting you," he murmured as he proceeded to take her shirt off. His hands felt like fire against her skin as his hands slid down her bare arms, taking the straps of her bra down with them. He was clearly making a conscious effort to be gentle with her, but now that his mind was bonded with another, his deeply rooted needs were taking over faster than he could process.

He drew her close in a swift move, crushing his mouth against hers as he kissed her.

The fire of their bonding driving her, Eva fumbled with Naois' shirt, eventually undoing the garment, tossing in on the floor beside hers. As their lips touched, Eva could feel more of the fire from their linking flooding her body. Eventually his lips drifted from her's, and Eva let out a sigh as his lips touched her shoulders. Her hands meanwhile, touched the firm skin of his body as they sought to places to feed the fire. Eventually her hands found the buckle to his belt and she began to undo it.

Within seconds, both had been relieved of their garments, which lay scattered on the bedroom floor. Taking her hand, Naois firmly but gently led her to the bed and eased them down on it. Within minutes, he would lose his sanity to the throes of Pon Farr.

Looking up at him, Eva saw the fire burning in Naois' eyes, and she knew what was to come would both be wonderful but also painful. Such was the love of the Vulcan heart.
