Mission: Episode 06 - Legend of Souls
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 6, Zuwtt and Ueda's Quarters
Timeline: MD6, 1417 hours

[ON]

After finishing his coffee in the mess hall, Zuwtt returned to his quarters. The reaction he got from Tuula was predictable; in fact, it was probably better than he expected.

As he entered his quarters, Zuwtt saw the back of his roommate's head. Lyras was sitting on their couch, engrossed in a PADD. "Well, that went about as well as I predicted."

Lyras quirked a brow at his roommate's musings, glancing over at the Bolian for a brief moment, smiling and setting his PADD down. "I feel like you saying that is the start of a grand tale about maturity and professionalism."

"No, I believe this is the start of a grand tale about perseverance," replied Zuwtt. "William would not be known as the conqueror if he gave up at the first minor setback, would he?"

"Very true." Lyras chuckled, sitting up and folding his hands across his lap. "It wouldn't be a grand adventure on an exploration vessel without it's ups and downs to gather those tales, either. Dare I ask what happened?"

"Well, I got her up to the mess, but she didn't want to talk to me. Not that that was completely unexpected. Secondly, she was..." Zuwtt paused, not knowing quite how to put it. "...different."

"Such peculiar behavior." Lyras frowned in thought, as if he were analyzing a dignitary through this conversation. "But, different? Different how?"

"Well..." Zuwtt didn't know how to put this. "Everything is different about her. Her hair, her attitude... I think I even saw a tattoo on the back of her neck as she turned and left. And..." Zuwtt paused for a moment, not knowing if there was a proper way to put this. "She's in a wheelchair. She must have been in an accident or something since she left. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that," he quickly added. "It's just... I don't know." He sighed. "She may not be the Tuula I remembered, but she will be mine again. I just need to think of a way..."

"Ah, that does seem to be quite a change..." There wasn't much for Lyras to say without him turning judgmental of the situation, but he endeavored to try anyway. "Though I would suppose an accident that put her in a wheelchair could have easily changed her demeanor, or her outlook on life at the very least." Folding his arms against his chest, the Vulcan chuckled. "Of course not, but it is a rather significant change from last you spoke with her. Hm... well, conversation seems to be a good place to start, so long as she's willing. If you don't come off too strong, she will eventually listen, yes? I am not all that familiar with her-or women, for that matter-so any hopeful advice may be a tad... ah... uneducated." But women surely couldn't be nearly as bad as angered dignitaries, right?

"Conversation..." repeated Zuwtt, deep in thought. "You're right. Eventually, she's bound to listen..."

"Mmm, so long as you do not come at her with a knife. If I have learned anything from my adventures on the Orion homeworld, it is that females of most species tend to be a tad... grumpy... when something even remotely accusatory is flung in their direction." Smiling wryly, Lyras shrugged. "I assume you would have known that, having once dated Tuula. What was it that you normally used to converse about, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Oh, all sorts of things. Books, holo-programs... she was really into the arts, music, theatre, that sort of thing." Zuwtt let out a little chuckle. "She was always the dark, brooding artist type. Hard to believe that she's a doctor now."

"So, there should be plenty for your two to converse about." It was probably a good thing that Lyras was thinking about it from one angle instead of both angles, or else the conversation would have been much different. Diplomat as he may have been, sometimes events that hit more 'close to home' always managed to escape him.

"I guess in that case, I'll just have to try again," reasoned Zuwtt. "It's a small ship, I'm sure it won't be long before I see her around again."
