ON:

Let's dig a hole in the sand / I got myself a problem / that I've been lookin' to sell, the words blared in fuzzy static from the earbuds firmly stuck in Neo's pointy ears. It was clearly loud enough to drown out any and all background noise. He bobbed his head along, thumbs tucked in his uniform pockets. He wasn't on duty, and so he didn't care about propriety. His fingers tapped idly against his hit the button on the turbolift. He leaned against the wall, crossing one foot over the other.

Neo ducked out of the lift as the doors opened and headed down the hall, to the door marked MIALIN. He yanked out the earbuds and wrapped them around his palms, placing them in his pocket snugly along with the PADD they were attached to. He self-consciously touched the thin wire-framed glasses perched on the bridge of his nose, the only sign that he found them to be utterly unsuitable, and reached down to press the pad on the door. When it opened, he walked in, looking poised as always, not a hair out of place. "I'm Crewman Neo. New transfer from the Venture." He withdrew the slender amber isolinear rod from his other pocket and held it out.

Dea accepted the chip and placed it in her computer, "Everything appears to be in order with your orders. Welcome aboard Crewman," she pulled out the chip and handed it back to Neo. "It's good to have another pilot join our ranks."

"Yes, five entire pilots are distinctly better than four," Neo commented deadpan.

"That's not exactly what I meant with my comment. Anyway I've put you on the flight roster for upcoming away missions," Dea replied realizing that her new pilot didn't really show much emotion.

Away missions. At least he'd have something to do. Maybe this assignment wouldn't be so boring after all. Neo nodded once. "Understood," was all the Vulcan said.

"We're running a lot of science survey missions using shuttles. The flight roster is posted in the briefing room. Do you have any other questions for me?"

"Nope," Neo said vacantly. "I'll check the roster out ASAP."

Dea nodded, "You know where to find me if you have any questions." She was in the middle of another busy duty shift. "Once again welcome to the Flight Control department."

Neo bowed his head once and took that as his cue to leave.
