ON:

Moving through the office with a quick stride, Siren clutched a pile of padds under her arm. She moved with a confidence that showed how at home she was in an office after a year of playing the research and admin role. The only thing that would make her more comfortable would be her own clothes. She wasn't a fan of the uniform, but she guessed it wasn't there to like. Shame.

"Son of a..." Amynta Markos frowned as she slapped her hand against the replicator, staring with disgust at the mug of dark coffee...in a mud like consistency. She had ordered strong coffee, hot and black...she might have said extra strong or super strong. She leant forward, swearing softly. Her hair was pinned up...not in a bun, but high, with strands curled. She also wore the skirt uniform and makeup that might have been on the edge of what was allowed on duty. She never cared about that though. Confidence came from within, but was helped by feeling good with how you worked the uniform.

"Don't break it, or I'll end up having to get it working again!" Siren sighed, setting the padds down before moving over quickly before she could do any damage, taking the cup away from her before it could spill everywhere. "You tried asking?"

Amynta looked at her before sighing, rolling her shoulders. "I tried. I tried but the damned thing gave me that...foul mud. It isn't coffee. It reminds me of black blood."

Siren looked into the cup before screwing her face up. "Or poison," she recycled the cup quickly before leaning against the dispenser. "Double shot, Americano coffee, hot," Siren picked up the offering and lifted it to Amynta with a smile, her hand pointing to it like a magician's assistant. "And as if by magic! Ta daa!"

Amynta watched her before smiling, taking it as she sipped it, holding her eyes. "Mmm...I now realise why I keep you around. And not just for how you fill that uniform, Red."

Siren folded her arms and tilted her head, the dark red hair that had earned the nick name from Amynta sweeping to the side with the movement in a side pinned bunch of ringlets. "No one can wear this thing well. But I can, gasp, work a replicator. Aren't I clever."

Amynta ran her eyes over her before moving past her, touching her arm gently. "Trust me, you wear it well. And you are more clever than you let on..." she moved to sit down, crossing her legs. "Sit."

Siren got herself an ice cold orange juice before she moved to sit with her at her desk, pushing the piles of padds over. "I'm done with the first information packet we got through. I've gone through it and filtered out the unimportant stuff. Those are the highlights. Don't say I don't do you any favours."

"You do me many," Amynta said and reached for one, sighing. "I loathe this...exploration was not what I was thinking when I joined."

"What were you thinking?" Si asked with a small smile of amusement with the suggestion in her tone.

"About the roof over my head, I suspect..." she smiled as she held her eyes. "You work too hard, Red."

"That's okay, I play hard too," Siren said with a playful smile, arching an eyebrow as she turned her chair slightly. "Besides, we got ourselves a system. I'm like your filter."

"Mm...and I am a filter for our Chief," Amynta said and winked, leaning closer. "We should paint this ship red, you know...show the people here how it is done. We could take it over."

Siren laughed at that, searching her eyes with a small smile of humour, her eyes shining as her lips pursed and she leant forward onto her arms on the desk, so she was leaning in close to her. "Yeah, declare it pirate and go tear up the quadrant?"

She chuckled at that, her eyes shining. "Why not...we would certainly give it a good run. It would be less boring."

"Hey, I like what I do," Siren laughed, shaking her head as she watched her, chin resting in her hand and elbow on the desk as she leant to her.

"Oh yes. As do I...but today, it is a long day. Which is why I am drinking," she said and sipped her coffee. "Once we get more data in, it'll be better."

Siren nodded with a soft sigh, watching her for a long moment. "You're an action girl aren't you. Come on, you can admit it to little old me."

Amynta watched Siren closely before a small smile curled her lips. "More than I like to let on. I like many things. It is how I am."

"Thought so, that's why you've got itchy feet being stuck in an office, you wanna dance," Siren laughed softly, shaking her head knowingly.

"Red, I always dance..." Amynta said, her eyes shining. "Even when no one thinks I am."

"I can imagine," Siren chuckled, reaching out to pull a padd over. "Come on, waltz with me through this lot..."
