Pushing her fingers through her hair, Pola left her fingers there as she balanced her elbow on the desk and her head against her palm. Her focus was on the information on the PADD infront of her, a patient who'd materialised earlier in sickbay with symptoms which just didn't add together, causing further concern to the staff as to what precisely was going on.

Gone was her indulgence of this morning with Cyrus' gift, and firmly back in place was the CMO of the shift. As they'd now entered into Beta shift, Eda had the floor out front which allowed Pola more time to trouble out this puzzle and try to get the pieces to fit together.

The chime rang to her office and Cyrus stepped through the door. "Good afternoon Commander, do you have a minute?" He gave her a quick smile, but stayed at the door.

As her eyes moved upwards, Pola smiled at she noticed who was standing there. It took a moment for his formal tone and body language to alert her to know that this was something serious. Tugging her fingers free of her hair, she locked the PADD in her hand before indicated for Cyrus to take the seat infront of her. "Mr. Kiwosk. You happened to catch me on the tail end of my shift so I have a number of minutes if you wish."

"Good to know. I was hoping to talk to you about this new tactical team Lieutenant Stone has me building. " He sighed. "I've been going around the departments asking for a list of talented individuals that would properly suit what the TRT would stand for...and well, having a medic on such a team would be instrumental, I'd say even crucial to the sustainability of the team and it's ability to respond to any number of situations. "

Smiling slightly, Pola relaxed into the back of her chair as she folded her right leg over her left at the knee. "Ok...Well how about you tell me the basic's of what you are looking for in the medic. What kind of responsibilities would they be taking on?"

Simple enough. "Treating injured in the line of fire, assessing medical situations that could potentially be hazardous, making sure people stay alive until they reach medical personnel or a sickbay. " He listed off the requirements calmly and sighed. " Their trainings will not hinder their duties on board the boat, it will be a four to five hour training session every seven ship days. You'll be forwarded all information regarding trainings and requirements. " It was a practised tongue that explained the words that he had repeated so many times in the last three days. "If you have any questions you have no need to worry, you can ask me directly or Lieutenant Stone and we will answer to the best of our abilities."

"Even though I can understand the need for such a team, I still have my reservations." Shifting slightly in her seat, Pola studied Cyrus carefully as she pushed back on the overwhelming love she felt for him, understanding the need that this must be business. "Here in sickbay we are a staff of only six including the EMH and an additional three we can call on from counselling. Even though your training routine is minimal, you would be leaving me a valuable member short in the event of emergencies."

"What would end up happening, if the emergency is a medical emergency, then medical would go...not the TRT, if the emergency was someone shot on deck during a boarding and the opponent is still shooting around...then the TRT medic would go in, keep the man stablilized until medical could arrive." He explained. "Theoretically it wouldn't hinder your department, if anything, it will help save more lives. "

Studying Cyrus for a moment, Pola placed her elbow on the arm of of chair before resting her cheek against the palm of your hand. "I don't see your reasoning there...If we are in a scenario where the ship is under attack, the first measure is to assign people to do a deck to deck search for injured. To have a medical member assigned to your team would mean that they are confined to a select area deemed by the TRT team. You would be placing a member of my team, someone ultimately of my responsibility, directly in the line of fire to save one."

Cyrus placed his elbows on the desk and thought about what Pola said. "This team would only call upon staff in cases of extreme emergencies that are centralized. Furthermore, if the need for the medical staff to be with sickbay is more important than being in the thick of repelling boarders than obviously it would make more sense for he or she to be there, just as if there were engine problems that the engineering operative would be required in engineering. But, if we take the same scenario and centralize it in one location where the majority of wounded are, that medic would be able to respond and treat the injured before your medical staff could get there, and double if not triple the chances of them living. " He smiled reassuringly. "It's not that I'm asking to remove your member from your team, it's training that staff member to be able to go above and beyond what he or she was originally capable of for the betterment of the ship."

Tapping her lower finger against her lip, Pola weighted up what Cyrus was saying, placing the pros and cons together in a mental list as she tried to weight up the whole situation as it stood. "Of my current staff...there would only be two possibilities."

Chewing the side of her baby finger for a moment, Pola pulled it away as she moved to take a PADD from her side drawer. "The first would be Ensign Jessica Wilson. She is just out of the academy and in the first year of her internship. She would be the most experienced below myself but the experience would do well to help her broaden her horizons. Working and training with your team would encourage her to interact with people outside of a sickbay environment. Even though she is a good medical officer and there was been no complaints, I get a hint of a certain shyness and hesitancy when it comes to matters just push her outside of her boundaries."

Cyrus nodded. "That's easy enough to sort out, I'm sure she wouldn't have an issue trying out, but she would have to follow my orders in cases where she assistance were required, which could prove troublesome if she's one that likes the power of being an officer." He chuckled slightly. "Who would the other one be?"

Pola found herself laughing slightly at the comment about Jessica. "Well now...she wouldn't ever let power go to her head. You're issue would be more so on the fact that she is my staff member who was caught in sickbay during that incident with Jeremy and a phaser."

"Ah..." Was all Cyrus could say. "That is an understandably...interesting situation to be in." He paused to drum his hands on the table.

Moving her fingers across the PADD face, Pola brought up the second profile in question. "The other person I can recommend is my medical officer Chief Petty Officer Eda. She isn't a qualified Doctor and therefore can only administrate the mildest of medications but her background is in triage. She would know how to proficiently react in an emergency situation, especially in cases where there is a number of causalities."

"She certainly sounds like the person we're looking for. I'd ask for them both to try out if they so choose, it is a voluntary thing, regardless of what some individuals may think." He smiled. "Do you have any other questions about this Commander?"

Placing the PADD with both profiles on the desk, Pola pushed them in Cyrus' direction with a smile. She had locked off any information which wouldn't be available to someone of his security level but the basics of what he needed would be viewable. "No...just don't terrorise or scare my people when you interview them and we should be good Mr. Kiwosk."

He flashed her a knowing grin and winked. "I'll leave that to my superiors. Apparently he does a good job of that already." He took the PADD and gave her hand a soft squeeze. "Did you get the flowers?"

Allowing a natural smile to slide into place, Pola squeezed Cyrus' hand in return before her eyes turned to the rose she had placed in water on her desk. "They were such a wonderful thought. Its..." Blushing slightly, she looked up at Cyrus, "It's been awhile since a guy has made such a gesture to me...Thank you."

"Well, with luck you'll keep getting them. I may not get to see you all the time, but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you." He gave her one last smile. "Now Commander if you excuse me, I have to bring these latest candidates to the Lieutenant for screening. " He stood up and gave a formal salute.

Smiling at the formal salute, Pola moved to her feet as she returned it, a gesture which wasn't quite natural to her. "Of course Mr. Kiwosk. You're dismissed." As she relaxed her body, she couldn't help but catch his eye, "See you later tonight I hope."

"Count on it darlin'. " He winked one last time and blew her a kiss before walking out of the office.

Watching as he walked away, Pola felt a slight squeeze around her heart. The squeeze seemed to tighten as she looked down at the flower on her desk, reaching out to gently caress the petals before pulling herself back to reality. Laughing slightly, she forced herself back to work, pulling out the PADD she'd been working on with Jeremt regarding the transponders. Realising she'd never raised the situation with Cyrus she resolved to mention it to him when they met later.
