LOG BEGINS

Tomorrow Jared and I meet with Captain Holliday and Admiral Saalm to discuss the matter of my pregnancy. I find myself drawn to the inescapable conclusion that they are not going to see a happily married woman excited about her and her husband's first children together, but more a young officer slipping into the same choices that screwed her career over the last time.

How do I begin to explain that this is different, the only thing that is the same is a pregnancy. I am different now. I am more confident, less prone to feel the urge to skip out on a shift if I'm feeling 'frisky.' I'm not who I was five years ago, I'm married, a daughter who depends on me, and a life on track that a year ago I'd never have dreamt of.

I can only hope that the Captain and Admiral can see my side. I may be forced to request a transfer if they don't, something that could be for the best anyways given how small this ship is. I just don't want to tear Jared away from a job he enjoys.
