Ca...First Officer's Log, Captain Jonathan Holliday reporting.

My apologies for the error at the beginning of this recording - I am perhaps not quite yet accustomed to returning to my previous role as First Officer after my tenure as Captain of the Galileo.

Whilst I understand that the Admiral was rather desperate to return to the command of a starship, I must privately report that I do not feel that this was a sensible move for the ship as a whole.

It recently came to my attention that Admiral Saalm is currently bearing offspring, and as such is unlikely to remain fit for duty given her current situation and its inevitable outcome. It therefore strikes me as most likely she will require to stand down in the future, leaving either a vacant command chair, or the need for my own role to increase once again.

It is also my opinion that this vessel is simply unsuitable to house as many children as we seem to be accumulating. It may become necessary for me to request reassignment of several personnel if the rate of....expansion, of the ship's complement does not abate shortly.

Needless to say I remain dedicated to my position as Executive Officer of the Galileo and will endeavour to carry out my duties to the very best of my abilities. I am glad to see that Commanders Stace and Blake do not appear to have remodelled my previous office too much during their individual tenures as XO and as such it should not take me long to change things back to the way they were.

If anything this has come as somewhat of a perk of my reassignment - I always favoured this office over the Ready Room, it offers a far better LCARS interface in my opinion, thankfully I will be able to get far more work done here than I could do whilst adjacent to the Bridge.

I anticipate that our upcoming mission is likely to be uneventful. Starfleet has us escorting colonists for some sort of experiment. From what I can see there is very little in the way of a militaristic threat, and the expanse of flora and fauna in the Ceres system will no doubt have the science department running around as if on some sort of narcotics given the amount of data to gather.

My own thoughts are that I will complete this mission as so ordered and decide as to my future. If I can accept returning to an XO position then perhaps this will be my home a while longer - however if the call of my own Command is still too strong to resist, then I will tender my reassignment request pending our return to a Federation facility.
