"It is a love based on a lie!" Her sister shouted, then I'nio softened knowing how sometimes she felt the loneliness of her own existence. "At least give her a choice"

H'au 'Atina rumbled as an avalanche but her sister had wisdom and she knew she had done wrong and the truth of the words settled in her cold heart. She softened and called to her daughter.

"Daughter come here, there is something you must know and decide."
--
Allyndra nodded and picked up the tale again.

H'au Kaimene came as her adopted mother called wondering what the two sisters had been arguing about.

"Is all well Mother?" she asked.

"No," Mother 'Atina replied with a caress of soft snow. "No," her form seemed to swirl away and back again as though she could not quite hold it. "No, for I have made a grave mistake. In my own wants and desires I have made a grave injustice to you."

H'au Kaimene looked puzzled but she fell to her knees. "No, mother there is nothing that you have done. I am happy here, happier than I have ever been!"

"But only because of the crystal in your eyes!" 'Atina said and with a wave of her hands two crystals came forth from Kaimene's eyes. The crystals hung suspended for a moment before they blew away and disappeared amoung the thousand other crystals.

"They distorted all you saw so that what was once beautiful became ugly and the cold and bleakness here became beautiful."

It was as Mother 'Atina said, H'au Kaimene could see the cold bleak world now but she could also see the beauty still in it for she had come to love it as well.

"It is still beautiful to me. I have come to love this place. Can you not see how the snow makes all shine? Can you not see how each flake is a masterpiece of form? Each swirl dusts with magic? I wish to stay Mother!"

Mother 'Atina wanted nothing more than her adopted daughter to stay but she knew that while the words rang true from her daughter that for too long had she not danced in the warmth or felt the touch of her own.

"Daughter, I would keep you here with me, but first you must see without blemish the world you came from. Go, take wing, and dance again in the warmth of the Twins!" With those words Mother 'Atina vanished in swirl of snow.

H'aue Kaimene called after her over and over but no response came and finally as the spell wore away the cold began to creep into her bones and she finally took flight and flew back to the valleys.

For a long time H'au 'Atina was again lonely in her cold land. The snow lay deep and unmoving amoung the peaks of the mountains and then one day she heard a voice. A voice that she knew and she could not help herself but stir and respond.

"Kaimene my daughter what do you here amoung my cold realm?"

"I have returned Mother. I have walked in the warmth and made many friends and seen all the wonders and they are beautiful, but in my heart while I could see the beauty there, I could never forget the beauty here. I had to come Mother and see you again and if you would allow me, to spend time with you," Kaimene said and the words were true.

And so Mother and Daughter were joined again for a time before the call of the warmth of world called and they were parted but each time Kaimene would promise to return and so each year the snows on the mountains wax when Kaimene is with her mother and each year when she leaves they wane and tears of H'au 'Atina flow as her daughter departs.

And ends the tale of H'au Kaimene, the Snow Girl.
