Whilst my program may be currently inactive, I find that this time in the memory buffers to be most useful for pursuing my own studies. Currently I feel that it is my duty as a member of the medical staff aboard this vessel to read any and all texts, papers and experiemental data available on the structure of the Bolian brain as well as any psychological and sociological information available.

My mission? Understand Dr Mott.

My leading theory for his somewhat deranged behaviour in reference to my photonic nature is some form of neurochemical imbalance in his neocortex - perhaps leading to feelings of paranoia and derangement. Of course the obvious answer would be to take a tissue sample for further analysis, however my studies have yet to reveal an effective method for doing so without the good Doctor's awareness.

Perhaps a clandestine sample extraction during his REM cycle would be most effective? There would however be an issue in the transfer of a tricorder and sampling device into his quarters - my own program could take advantage of the holoemitters staioned throughout this vessel, however physical objects may be more challenging.

Further study is required.
