Um...I'm not sure where to begin. It's been a hell of a ride so far and I've handled it with about as little grace as possible.

The people here are really great.

I actually made a friend - Grayson Jones. He's an engineer, naturally.

Why is it always an engineer?

[sigh]

Anyway, I've just come back from seeing him. We went to the Observation Lounge and it was really nice, but then I realized that he thought it was date. I can't believe I missed that! I still want to die from embarrassment at missing something so obvious!

Of course, I told him I wasn't interested. Don't get me wrong, he's absolutely sweet and kind and handsome but I don't feel that way about him...I think.

We've managed to work it out though and I think we'll be good friends in no time. I just need to make sure to not miss any more romantic advances, which means I'll have to be extra careful. I really don't want to ruin it by starting something I know I can't finish.

I guess I could also talk about what happened in the Arboretum.

[frustrated sigh]

I still can't believe I acted the way I did. Something is seriously wrong with me and I hope I never see Keval again because if I do, I'll just die! He's involved with someone and I just kept blabbing on about kissing and touching him and... [groan] I need therapy. I mean, I know why I did it; I like to feel liked. But my stupid brain just can't help itself from falling into old habits.

Maybe I'll avoid the Arboretum from now on...Oh! I forgot to mention. I was walking to the labs the other day and I saw someone I never thought I'd see again, Pieter Van Zyl! I couldn't believe it! I haven't seen him in such a long time, it was so nice to see a familiar face! I didn't say hello or try to get his attention because he looked really busy and I know he doesn't like being interrupted, but still! It was nice seeing him again, even if he was walking away.

[yawn]

Oh...sorry. It's...wow, 0326hrs. I need to go to bed before I wake my roommate. I'm going on the away mission today, so that's exciting. I can't wait to see the planet and the mine. I've never been in a mine, I think it'll be great.

Alright, I'm going to bed now.
