304 words; about a 2 minute read

Bonjour future Louis,

This will be my account of what being in Starfleet is like. When you are an old man, you will be sitting by the fire in a cognac induced haze, staring at the body of your nurse and reflecting back on the man that you were no?

I will look at these as notes from the past, echos of memories. Today I found out that I am assigned to the U.S.S Galileo, a Science vessel! I am looking forward to getting out there and seeing the stars! Perhaps discover something or at least be part of a discovery so that the parents will be quiet.

How did I end up here, Oh that is going to be an excellent question! If you can remember our Grandfather?

What a genius he was, I mean literal genius! A Nobel winner for Astronomy, He was the one who found the commet that travels from Barnard's Star to Sol every two hundred years, It is called Onri's Eyecatcher. He also spent most of his space career charting the Gamma Quadrant.

Well he pushed and pushed us to do something with our life, Kept going on and on about how the world of science needs more duChampe in it, Besides our Brother is a Doctor, Our sister is a lawyer, We hate family gatherings. Ha ha!

After four years of academy and a few months here at DS-7 I think we are ready for a little bit of adventure? Okay lets be real its a science ship, More then likely we are going to end up babysitiing a bunch of cranky nerds! But we will discuss this in a few more days. For now, I raise this glass of cognac to us, To our new life to our new adventures!

Bon Chance!

End Entry
