First Officer's Personal Log,

It has been quite a while since my last log entry, and I feel I should apologise to myself for not taking the time and effort to make some more regular entries. The ship has needless to say, been busy, and the crew have been performing at almost textbook efficiency.

Our maiden voyage to the starbase went exceptionally well, I have to admit, I was a little nervous taking the helm when we left, it had been a while since I had last taken a ship from a planet's surface back into space, but the Galileo certainly didn't let me down, thankfully we have new helm staff aboard now which should make my life a little easier.

Engineering seem to have been pretty busy recently, the Galileo might have been the newest ship in the fleet, but she was launched without some of the more advanced systems her class is used to, but the Chief and his teams seem to have gotten everything up and running, including our rather...difficult...new EMH most successfully.

On a personal note, I am extremely glad that our new Tactical officer has arrived, I felt a little nervous some days on the Bridge with that station unmanned. A science ship or not, every Starfleet vessel should and must be able to defend herself or her allies at a moment's notice.

Personal memo - the quartermaster on this particular starbase is a complete ass....I should pass his details back to Command at some point for....analysis.

Next, is the most crucial part of our mission....I don't like the idea of crossing Klingon space so lightly armed. Allies or not, they are always going to be a volatile and dangerous species at the best of times, and I'll be damned if we're going to be caught napping by a Bird of Prey or a Vor'cha class battle cruiser. I've ordered security drills and extra precautions to be taken in advance.

If all goes well, we should reach our final destination relatively quickly, no doubt with the Klingons watching carefully from under the relative safety of their cloaks...but we'll be ready, no matter what.

End log.
