Log Entry: Mialin 008

392 words; about a 2 minute read

Dea focused her attention to the view out her window. Overall shore leave had been good but it was nice to be back in space and on duty. The break had given her some perspective but there were still some personal demons she needed to deal with at some point.

Personal Log: Lieutenant Dea Mialin

Galileo officially departed Vega colony. I have to say I had very mixed emotions during out departure. Granted there's a good reason for it but I can't allow that to get in the way, especially during critical flight operations. Those of us that were on board the ship during our landing on Vega will never forget it.

Really it doesn't matter that I'm looked at by many as the person who saved the day. I've said it before and I'll say it again I didn't join Starfleet to be a hero. However on the other side of it all I certainly didn't work as hard as I have to get where I am only to have all my training and service as an officer disrespected by anyone, yet alone some Lieutenant JG who wasn't aboard when Galileo crash landed or the events leading up to that hard landing.

On a brighter note I really do have a reason to celebrate. Captain Saalm promoted me to full Lieutenant. Honestly I don't think its truly sunk in yet because it came as a total surprise. Being back on duty keeps my mind from wandering to places I really don't want it to.

Yes its safe to say I have some doubts about what we'll face on our next mission. Maybe because of the way our last one ended. No matter what happens I can't let that interfer with doing my duties to the best of my ability. It's clear from my earlier conversation with the Captain that she respects and has faith in my abilities as both an officer and one of her Department Heads. I'm not about to let any of my superiors down.

For now I just need to do what I've always done as far as running my Department goes. Beyond that I was told early on in my career to always keep training whether its to hone flight control skills or expand them in other areas.

"End log."
