2297 – Outside of the Romulan Neutral Zone
Starbase 10 – Alpha Quadrant – near Deneva

Ael sat at a table in the agreed upon point of meeting, which just so happened to be a bar. However, as she had now adopted a persona of her erstwhile cousins, to ask for something worthwhile drinking was not an option.

Theris-masu please.” She replied to the server, ordering a Vulcan tea which she found to be excessively bitter and not at all to her liking. It was nothing like the fine aesolh tea she currently had packed in a travel crate currently in her temporary ‘quarters.’ As the woman walked away, Ael’s unusual blue eyes—for a Vulcan, anyway—scanned the room in a cool manner, finding nothing that stood out as unusual.

She was waiting for her contact, a Vulcan merchant named ‘Zeris,’ to meet with her. He was to take her to Vulcan where she would meet with her next point of contact in Shi’Kahr. The server suddenly came back, and her tea was placed in front of her. Ael reached out and lifted the cup to her lips and used her considerable control to keep from frowning. This stuff truly was awful. If this was an indicator of what was to come, her two-year assignment on Vulcan was going to be a long one.

Zeris Lyr’Zor, first-born child of the clan Matriarch and heir to the clan, found his current assignment to be a tedious one. He was currently en route from ch’Rihan to Vulcan, the holds of his ship brimming with all sorts of goods destined for markets of questionable colors. He had begun smuggling as a ‘lark,’ of sorts, but found it to be lucrative and allowed for additional connections to be forged to benefit the clan. However, his mother, T’Von, had sent him a directive one standard week prior with new instructions. He was to pick up a female at Starbase 10, and bring her to Shi’Kahr, Vulcan on his way home.

The directive irritated him. However, everything had become irritating lately. He was close to his time and wanted nothing more than to return home and sort out a mate for himself. If he were honest, the Surakians were smart in bonding their children to one another so as not to have such uncertainties. As he was on a timeline, he quickly made his way to the predetermined location to gather his ‘cargo,’ and to depart this shithole post haste.

However, all annoyances melted away as he walked into the bar that served as the meeting point and he caught a whiff of a scent that was utterly fascinating. Stopping to scan the room, he identified a woman that met the criteria his mother gave him and started walking towards her. However, as he did so, the rousing scent grew stronger, and by the time he had gotten to the woman’s table it was quite clear that the engrossing smell came from her.

“Are you T’Ael?” He inquired in greetings and waited patiently for her response before doing anything further.

Ael, meanwhile, watched the Vulcan walk straight towards her and had taken the moment to study him with in a detached manner. Bowl cut, raven hair – empty expression, wearing heavy robes that did nothing to showcase his physical form. He was attractive enough, if one could ascribe such a thing to a cold, personality-less Vulcan. “I am. I take it you are Zeris?”

Her voice was low and smoky, and it did strange things in him, and he took a seat across from her without asking for permission. This was all pre arranged anyway – permission to sit was implicit, was it not? “You would be correct. I am to take you to Vulcan. Are you prepared?” He all but purred the last sentence. She was rather aesthetically pleasing with short cut hair that appeared to be a rich brown if the poor lighting was to be believed. However, it was her eyes that utterly captivated his gaze. They were the color of the rarest Vokaya stone (a precious stone of Vulcan prized for its vivid blue coloring and opalescence) and held a shrewd intelligence behind them. He was utterly captivated.

Mine the barely held predatory animal within him purred.

And just like that Zeris changed the parameters of this current assignment. He would bring this woman to Vulcan, yes, but not Shi’Kahr…She would be his, completely, by the time they reached Vulcan space.

Ael, meanwhile, having no idea of Zeris’ plans for her, easily replied with a spot-on Shi’Kahrian accent, “I am prepared. My belongings are in the lodgings I am currently residing in. There are a number of crates so I will require assistance getting them to your ship.”

Zeris’ dipped his head amiably and managed to keep the hunger from showing through his eyes. “Unnecessary. They are currently being retrieved and will be brought on board my ship. We can leave presently.” He felt suddenly feverish and barely managed to keep from wiping at his brow as a subtle sheen of sweat began to form there.

Ael nodded and stood, not recognizing the danger she had found herself in, leaving the tea practically untouched and motioned to the male for him to lead her wherever they needed to go. In this instance, Vulcan expediency was appreciated. He quickly stood as well and motioned with his arm for her to exit the bar and she felt him follow, but within a few steps he was parallel with her as they walked from the bar.

Her spicy aroma…sultry voice…unusual eyes…Zeris was undone. In time-honored Lyr’Zorian tradition, he was already planning on ‘stealing’ this woman and making her his. If all went according to his impromptu plan, she would be bound to him by the time they returned to Lyr’Taya - his home. Oh yes. That thought really excited him. It took everything he had to keep his hands off her until the ship had departed Starbase 10.
