Captain's Log, Stardate 94377.4

"Galileo — the -A — has now spent approximately two days within the year 2417. Many of the crew, for better or worse, have managed to privately suppress their vocal objections about our recent ethical quandaries in favor of focusing on the current task at hand. This new priority? To repair Rear Admiral Saalm's starship, the -B, so it will be able to send us back in time and allow us to complete our 'assigned' mission to alter this future. Or maybe...just to get us home.

"After several hours of personal reflection, I've come to believe it's not my place to formally judge the motives and actions of those outside our time period, nor ascribe contemporary methods of knowledge and thinking to those who possess different forms of galactic experience and understanding. That is a historian's purview about which few of my crew are qualified to make such assumptions or judgements. Certainly not in the absence of years of historical research and peer review. I must believe the admiral and her crew - and their remains of Starfleet - have come to this decision with the best intentions. As desperate as they apparently are.

"Despite my own acceptance of our current situation, there's been contention aboard Galileo over the past 48 hours. Lieutenant Rice has seemingly defected to IKS Praxis after I dispatched her to brief Captain Kuran on our situation; apparently in search of more 'truths' surrounding this future Federation's current political status. When I attempted to intervene, my second officer, Doctor Warraquim, threatened to remove me from command under the false pretense of medical authority — a rare authority which should never be invoked or abused without due cause. I've since spoken to her and Master Chief Vral in private to reinforce the chain of command and its values which must exist at all times. This crew might be showing symptoms of falling apart, but it won't happen on my watch, and certainly not under my first command.

"Repairs aboard Galileo-B are progressing slowly yet efficiently. Ensigns Sera and Mimi are coordinating with the -B crew and we estimate the Mark III's deflector array to be operational again within the next 36 hours. Lieutenants Ullswater and Vala continue their temporal projection research with Commander Wyatt while the rest of us are focused on exploring the latest intelligence and political landscape reports given to us by Saalm. There's too much information here to completely evaluate but we're trying our best to isolate the most relevant knowledge and study it. Our priority, now, is to protect ourselves and the -B by any means necessary. Any edge we can get; any way to protect our antiquated starship from these future threats, by any means necessary.

"Computer, end log."
