Personal Log

The cleaning out and creating the necessary refabrication of parts for the Waverider shuttle has been completed. It has been a monstrous accomplishment completed by the refugees and our team. Surprisingly, we have worked together well and without incident. I am most pleased with that latter. I know I was only supposed to be the pilot here on this mission, but my engineering skills were definitely called upon. Don’t get me wrong. I couldn’t have accomplished all this work myself, but I have felt responsible to double check repairs and triple check coordinating systems.

We are just minutes away from launch and my nervousness will not seem to settle. After hours and hours of work, a few short sleep cycles, and some fairly decent food, the team has completed all repairs required. The shuttle is sound and all appears to be ready.

Even though I have reviewed all repair details and have personally examined about 60% of the engine and propulsion systems myself, the nervous tingling continues to go up the back of my neck and to my antennae. I’m sure this uncertainty in me will fade once the systems have proven themselves in flight.

The previous hesitations or concerns about the honesty from the refugees has come to not be founded. At least nothing that I know about. I’m sure that once we can contact the Galileo, we will be able to return and help them in due course.
