Mimi's life before starfleet part 4-1

OLD: Even without the debris on top of her Mimi remained frozen to the spot partially through fear and partially through barely being able to move her right leg as hard as she tried. A moment later she found herself encased in light like the Klingons had arrived in only blue and the world around her disappeared.

ON:

When the light faded Mimi found herself lying on a bed in a completely different place, the walls and ceiling were greyish and the room was filled with beds like hers, suddenly a blue womans face with strange things sticking out of it appeared above her and she yelped, instinct took over and she rolled off the bed and tried to run away, as soon as she put weight on her right leg it buckled and she fell to the floor, scrabbling forward she ended up against another one of the beds and the woman stepped close in front of her.

“Easy, easy, calm down, no one is going to hurt you.” Came the voice of the Charleston’s chief medical officer LT Telana her antennae angling down towards the young woman.

”Nor son anda?“ Mimi asked looking up at the alien woman, she wore a uniform like the people that found her on the colony but none of them looked like her, then approaching behind the blue alien she saw one of the woman who was with her just moments ago and she relaxed ever so slightly.

“The universal translator still isn’t translating her language yet Doctor.” Joy told Telana.

“It will eventually.” Telana said, “She seems to be a little more relaxed now she has seen you, try and get her back onto the bio bed.”

“Ok.” Joy stepped in front of Telana and knelt down close to Mimi “It’s ok, you’re hurt and we’re going to help you get better but we need you to stand up and come with me.” She spoke slowly, she held out her hand hoping that Mimi would take it.

Very gingerly Mimi took Joys hand and with her help she got to her feet yelping in pain as she tried to put her weight on her injured leg, Joy quickly moved to support Mimi’s injured side and helped her back onto the biobed.

After finishing the search on the planet Maria and the away team beamed back up to the Charleston and she made a beeline for sickbay to check on the survivor. She walked in to find Telana and Joy around a bio bed where Mimi lay. “How is she Doctor?”

“She will be ok Maria.” Telana replied. “She has two large fractures in her right leg and another in her shoulder, all sorts of cuts and bruises and is rather dehydrated but she will be ok.”

A moment later Captain Daniels entered sickbay. “Doctor, Lieutenant. How is our survivor?”

“She is sleeping Captain, while we heal her injuries.” Telan replied.

“Good, your report Maria.” He said turning to Maria.

“Apart from this young woman there is nothing left alive down there, we found several bodies but they were all of the same species as her, nothing was found of their attackers, the evidence definitely points to the Klingons though.”

“Our sensor scans would seem to agree.” Daniels said. “The high concentration of hadron particles around the settlement and we picked up traces of tachyon emissions that would be from their cloaking devices. Have you been able to communicate with her?”

“Not fluently, the UT is trying, although she hasn’t spoke more than a few words at the moment.”

“When she is awake try and talk to her, we need to find out what happened from her point of view and if she knows where her people are so we can return her to them.”

“Understood Sir.” Maria said with a nod.

“Good, will we remain in this system for the next 36 hours, this region is unexplored so we will take the opportunity to do some exploring while we are here. I will be on the bridge.” With that Captain Daniels left sickbay heading back to the bridge.

“Let me know when she is awake doctor.” Maria said, she took one last look at the young feline on the biobed and left the sickbay.

==== 2 hours later ===

=/\=Sickbay to Lt Harker=/\= Came Telana’s voice over the comm system

=/\=Yes Doctor?=/\=

=/\=Will you come to sickbay, our feline friend is awake=/\=

=/\=On my way Doctor=/\=

A few minutes later Maria stepped through into sickbay. Mimi was sat up on the biobed watching as Telana ran a medical probe over her, she was already looking better now her cuts and bruises were healed up

Mimi looked up and saw the woman who had found her on Kemi, her ears twitched and she smiled a little, she was still very uncertain of her surroundings but for now everything seemed safe.

“How is she Telana?” Maria asked.

“A lot better.” Telana replied, she slipped the medical scanner back into the tricorder. “Her fractures are repaired, the cuts and bruises healed up. She still has a minor concussion but all her neural functions are good and she will be one hundred percent in a day or two.”

“Has she spoken much?”

“Not really, a few words here and there. Not enough for the UT yet though.”

Mimi watched the exchange between the two women but had no idea what they were saying though it looked like they were talking about her from the way they kept looking in her direction.

“Maybe you should try talking to her Maria” Telana suggested. “She seemed to react better to both you and Joy then she has to me, I doubt she has ever seen a person with blue skin before.”

“Ok I will give it a try, leave me with her for a few minutes.”

“Okay.” Telana turned and walked over to the other side of the sickbay and consulted with nurse Joy.

“And replicated me something suitable for her to eat, some salmon or something like that as she’s feline she should like it.” Maria added. She then turned to Mimi and sat on the edge of the biobed next to her.

Still a little nervous Mimi shifted to the other side of the biobed a little further away from Maria.

“Hey… don’t shy away I’m here to help you.” Maria said calmly, it was understandable, she knew Mimi was going to be very nervous even now. “I’m Maria.” she tapped her chest with her hand a couple of times. “Maria.”

“Marr-ria.” Mimi repeated the word, it was similar to the name of her own mother.

“That’s right, Maria.” Maria repeated the motion as she spoke then pointed to Mimi.

Mimi looked at Maria and cocked her head to the side a little, after a few seconds she mirrored the motion Maria did. “Mimi.” She said.

“Mimi.” Maria repeated, she smiled at Mimi glad that they had made a connection albeit a small one.

Telana slowly approached and put a small plate and a glass of water next to Maria. “Here you are Maria.”

Sniffing the air a little when she caught the scent of something strange Mimi followed the scent to the small plate that Telana carried, she wasn’t sure what it was but it smelt like food.

“Are you hungry?” Maria asked, she picked the plate up and sat it on her lap. “I bet you are.” She took a small piece of the fish and ate it then offered the plate to Mimi.
