Chief Science Officer's personal log,

I have enjoyed getting acquainted with my new posting. I have met quite a few members of the crew many of them at the party the other night. I have also recently met many of my new science officers including Crewman Ziyal. He seems to be a very capable officer and I firmly believe that he will be the most intriguing addition to my department.

At the aforementioned party I met Commander Remmington. Will and I got along quite well. He was the first person in quite some time I opened up about my bonding. It was nice to have someone who understood the practice as well as understanding my apprehension for the entire circus. I very much hope I get to spend more time getting to know him. I can't put my finger on it but there is something very intriguing about the attractive Operations Chief.

I have also met the Executive Officer. Granted it was not the most orthodox meeting it was by far the most enjoyable. Commander Holliday stumbled upon me in the holodeck while I was beginning one of my sparring programs. Instead of leaving he took me up on my offer to join me. It was far more enjoyable to spar with a non holographic counterpart. He was also my guest at dinner that evening. It was a nice change from eating by myself.

The only slight regret I had from that night was explaining my bonding to yet another person, more specifically my Executive Officer. It isn't that I am ashamed of the situations it has more to do with my perceived motivations for my life in Starfleet. On the other hand I got the feeling from John...uh...Commander Holliday that he understood me more than most. There is something about him that I too find intriguing. I am looking forward to spending more time with him. We have established a recurring sparring session. Apparently our good XO is up happy with his standing defeat from the other night *Audible laugh*. We have even decided to make them more interesting. The loser makes dinner but the winner hosts the meals. I look forward to having Commander Holliday make me dinner. *Audible laugh*

Last but not least I have a great respect for my new Commanding Officer. Her command of other languages is quite impressive. It has been a while since I have met someone other than a linguist that prided themselves on their ability to converse without the universal translator. I look forward to getting to know her command style despite the fact that I am a bit apprehensive about my first shift as a bridge officer. I am more than confident in my ability but I am more used to the confines of a lab then the energy found on a bridge. I am sure I will get used to it soon enough.

I believe that about summarized by last few days. I look forward to our launch later today. I am excited to be back into the blackness of space.
