Journals, thoughts, and future happenings

Posted on 30 Aug 2017 @ 8:21pm by Ambassador Soral Varro

493 words; about a 2 minute read

Previously....

Varro's eyes cracked open. He smiled as they settled on Blaze, who was curled up beside him. Varro gently pulled away and slipped on his boxers heading to the kitchen for a drink of water.

Bare feet padded to the sink and turned on the tap filling a large crystal glass with cold life giving water. He smiled to himself. He could still feel and taste Blaze on his lips. They had made love several times and damned if Varro hadn't damn near died from pleasure each time.

He turned the tap off and spun around seeing a worn leather journal on the counter. He walked towards it and immediately recognized it as Blaze's. He'd intended to close it but the words, I lied to Varro. stood out.

Varro's brow furrowed and he picked the journal up. Leafing back a few pages he found the beginning of the entry and read...

And now the conclusion....

He put the book down on the counter closing it. A mix of emotions ran through Varro. What he'd read has him going over in his mind all the things that had happened in the last year and all that he'd seen and been through. He thought about his past, about where he was and a long held dream that he thought out of reach now reared its head.

Varro drank down the cold water and quickly showered and changed. He checked on Blaze one more time made sure all was well and Blaze was still asleep and he headed out.

The hour was late but that never mattered. He needed to think, to walk, and to just figure out where his thoughts were going.

Varro spent an out walking and recalling the words in the journal. They told of Blaze's feelings, of the fears of not having Varro returning those feelings and much more. The lie, the words that had caught Varro's eye, was about the Nausiccan. There was not bounty. Blaze was just wanting to spend time with Varro.

Sighing and thinking about the words on the paper Varro made a decision. He called a friend of his in Greece knowing that the late our would mean nothing.

He hurried down the cobblestone road to a familiar block, past the ancient towering relics and down the ally. He'd walked that path a lot but tonight he had a mission. Tonight he was going to take a step he never thought that he'd take.

It took no more then an hour to sort things out and bag in had Varro headed back to the house.

When he arrived he stood still for a while just looking at the house. The light in the room was on, the lights downstairs were on, and the porch light was on.

Varro stared at the round silver moon and then after a few deep breaths he headed into the house. It was time....

To be continued...
