Beginning The Next Adventure

When Amaranai was young, she wasn't sure she would ever join Starfleet, let alone make it through the Academy and onto a Starship. And yet, here she was. Granted, currently she sat in the lounge of a ship that she hadn't been assigned to and was basically waiting to see what would happen to her and the rest of the crew of the Galileo.

When Amaranai was young, she would have led the mutiny against authority instead of being the one mutineed against. Although, really, it was Lirha that was attacked and Amaranai merely defended her commanding officer - and her lover.

When Amaranai was young, she never considered herself to commit to one person (male or female) for more than a few weeks at a time. And yet, that was different now, as well.

The past several weeks had been a roller coaster of emotions - loss, anger, fear, love and sadness. It was the love that had happened so recently that had thrown Amaranai for a loop. She and Lirha had fallen into lust so quickly and then even faster to more than lust. And it did feel more than lust and more than just a passing fancy. For Amaranai, there was a genuine feeling that the Orion woman cared about her and was falling in love with her. She wouldn't dare put words in her mouth, but Amaranai could tell from just their post-sex conversations that the green-skinned woman wanted to be closer to Amaranai. And Amaranai wanted that as well. She had never felt this way about anyone and yet, she was willing to do anything for Lirha.

But then everything happened. And the feelings of love, though still present, had been replaced by feelings of uncertainty. The general / admiral admitting to withholding information about their mission to the Klingon homeworld was just the tip of the iceberg. The assination attempt. The other Klingons. The Romulans. And now another Starfleet vessel. It was all a mess. And Amaranai and the rest of the crew were being sent home to be interrogated about their own involvement with the mission. What was there to say? Amaranai had followed orders and that was all she knew. There wasn't anything else to say.

The one positive that came from this ending was the fact that she would get to see Charlotte and Nara again. She missed her sister so much due to everything that happened and was happy to know that at some point soon she would be able to talk to her in person instead of via subspace messages.

Amaranai leaned back against the wall. For a small ship, it did have a nice lounge. She wanted to be with Lirha, but knew that it would't be a good idea at the moment. Things were going to be crazy once they reached Earth and though she would return to Lirha shortly, for now, Amaranai was going to relax by herself.
