Personal Log, Crewman... heh... I guess make that a Petty Officer Hershey...

I've been trying to record a message for Biyu back home for a couple of days. But we're still under the effect of a unusually heavy effects from a series of CME. The Stellar Dynamics people confirmed this is Proxima's stellar maximum and construction personnel should expect to be grounded more often. Which is going to put the Bonhomme Richard behind on it's deployment schedule. It still feels weird that that's not really my problem anymore. You get attached to ships. It feels like I'm leaving a sculpture half-finished. And like I never got certain parts right. I have to go but... we never did iron out that anomaly in the simulations. I went back and did some referencing on the structural dynamics of the older Nova-class, trying to figure out if something in the new geometry is causing it.

Well... I still have a couple days to run some sims. Anyway where was I? Oh right Biyu. That was a tangent. Shows you how much I'm dreading this message. Things between me and Kuai have gone south ever since he was transferred to the Geronimo but... she likes him like a brother. I just gotta tell her it's over between us. I mean... I'll miss him of course. But I'm not sure I really ever... I dunno... love-loved him? I mean he's got a butt that just won't... quit. And he gives great massages. Crappy kisser... in my opinion but that's not everything.

Sighs...

Crap I guess I just have to tell them both it's over. I mean... I'm on a starship now and starships move. And it's a surveyor so who knows when I'll be back near the core. I'm supposed to meet it before its rendezvous with a couple of big ships. And that's out of Starbase 234. I think? I need to recheck my itinerary either way. If it's typical, it'll be dropping off some transferring crew and picking up some more like me. So I'll be in the mix there.

I'm feeling antsy and a little useless. I mean I can see the damned nacelles out my window just... floating there, waiting to be attached to the pylons. And they're not ready. Normally stuff like this doesn't bother me. I go with the flow. No problem. Maybe you never forget your first ship you help put together. It's more like cabin fever. I mean Proxima colony's an hour by impulse but we can't go anywhere until we get an all clear. And we can't go out and work until an all clear... so...

Alright... kay... get your head around your new ship. Which I guess isn't a really new ship but new to me. The Galileo. I've been trying to get time to review some of the technical specs on it but I know the Nova-class pretty well. So anything deviated is probably by order of their CE.

Right Biyu... record something for Biyu... arrrrgh. She's going to hate my guts for this.
