Physical Description		One of the younger crewmembers, Micah is compact by the standards of the men on Galileo. He's got a sleek build with strong shoulders and pecs without becoming overly bulgy. He stays relatively clean-shaven most of the time. He has a creative Zen quality like very little overtly stresses him out. He keeps his hair at a medium length. His face still has a young ovalness to it with a thick, strong neck. His lips are very full and while expressive they might feel a little clumsy as well. Micah is handsome in a somewhat innocuous boy next door sense but is by no means a classic beauty. In fact that is probably the best way to describe him. The cute boy next door who jogs by your house with his shirt off every morning, and eagerly does a quick thing for you when you ask. Micah has a sleeve tattoo with a floral and geometric motif on his left arm.

Personality & Traits

General Overview		A go with the flow individual with a practical sense of innovation, who takes to challenges and the changing needs of a starship easily. He's also a very private person and not quick to share the details of his life or even what he's feeling. He's friendly and engaging in a sense as long as things do not force him to be personal about himself. His sense of humor leans physical and pretty sophomoric. He prefers novelty to routine and dislikes long term planning of much any kind. By some standards he lacks ambition. He prefers to see himself as good at being come what may. Only close friends get to see the real him: a person more bothered by his parents’ inability to make it work and fearing repeating the same mistake. Especially with children. Uninhibited and quite attentive with a lover, who usually ends up being a friend who crosses the line with him. He’s socially blind with sometimes insensitive moments when he’s driven but he’s also a practical romantic and his spontaneity comes out in intimate relationships.
Strengths		+ Energetic optimism: Micah is cheerful and can go with the flow. He's project oriented and doesn't get easily stressed. + Practical creativity: He's hands on and very imaginative when it comes to creating solutions- especially hands on solutions. + Versatile: He is both spontaneous but usually rational (although what he can rationalize may be difficult). But he is flexible and does well without a tied down structure. + Great in a Crisis: He stays cool. He thinks logically and with spontaneous innovation. And he's not afraid of physical risks to his being.He likes getting a little dirty. + Relaxed: he lives in the moment, goes with the flow of what comes to him.
Weaknesses		- Stubborn: When he's innovative or during a crisis he can sometimes stubbornly stick to what is clearly right to him. And if people are trying to change who he is he is very resistant to it and digs in. Sometimes bluntly. - Insensitive: Logic takes the front seat and sometimes he forgets the Human element. Its sometimes hard to empathize with other people or understand their emotional states. He can be socially blind. - Private: He prefers silence to small talk and he's not very good at talking about himself, mostly because of the tumult in his childhood.
Ambitions		Becoming an officer wasn't ever all that interesting to Micah. Like a lot of Enlisted personnel Starfleet offers superior training and great benefits but they don't necessarily see it as their lifelong career. Micah joined because he wanted a good skill portfolio and he wants to see some of the galaxy. He isn't really sure that he'll stay in Starfleet longer than a tour or two. Eight to ten years seems about right. Of course he might change his mind. There's an economic downturn in the need for Martian demands and the local shipyards are slowing down their production so there's less need for his kind of work. So Starfleet seemed like a good idea.
Hobbies & Interests		He's interested in learning zero-gravity suits and movement training and flying shuttlecraft but he has little practical experience. He likes spelunking and mountain climbing/rappelling as well as driving buggies across the Tharsian dunes. Most of his interests are decidedly blue collar: going out for a beer or rice wine after work with buddies, shooting some pool, playing mahjongg. He’s crap with the guys even though he’s interested in them. He has an interest in old combustion style ground vehicles and leans toward muscle cars. He dreams of one day rebuilding one (or more likely simply building one with peppered modern touches).
Vernacular		The Noctis-Qianjiao metroplex was peopled by North Americans and the Yue-speaking Chinese and Taiwanese peoples. With that many dialects and nothing dominating on the English side, Micah's accent is very diluted with nothing Earth-regional as dominant. He would sound like someone from the western half of the former United States and Canada. When he speaks Yue he has a decidedly Anglo accent as he's somewhat tone-deaf. He does better with Yue-Creole, a Yue-English hybridization which is the street language in the cities.

Personal History		Micah was born in the twin domed cities of Noctis-Qianjiao (locally called the NQ) in Mars' Noctis Labyrinthus region west of the Valles Marineris heartland. Straddling the Tongxi/Red Pearl river in the Western Badlands, the NQ has a feeling akin to the canyonlands of Utah but with a colder climate. It is a scrubby, stony desert dominated by hardy pinyons and other conifers often found at higher altitudes on Earth. It is the western edge of what is considered habitable and arable land: farther west is the inhospitable Tharsis region (where one must still don a mask and wear arctic gear). The twin cities have almost 16 million people between them making it the third largest settlement on Mars. Micah and his family are typical of the NQ: leaning blue collar, however outdated the term. They are workers, mostly engineers content with hands on work. A lot of the NQ’s population are contracted in some way or another with the shipyards above Utopia Planitia. Those engineers who aren’t are often involved with the ongoing terraformation project on Mars. For Micah’s family, it’s a split. His stepmother is focused on the transit planning for a Noctis-Qianjiao expansion into the western badlands within the next thirty years. His father is a propulsion engineer with specializations in smaller runabout and shuttle style vessels. Probably the most pivotal moments in his young life were the divorce of his parents and his father's subsequent remarriage; his illness and quarantine during an outbreak of the Martian Sweat; and the fact that his friends were typical of people from Noctis-Qianjiao. The NQ is often a place to try and escape and many of them did just that so many of Micha's friendships felt fleeting. Micah’s father, as brilliant as he can be, is a difficult man to live with. Moody and given to pensive obsession over his work, he’s the type to shut away in his office or to get a motel just to work in peace. Micah and he have never been particularly close but there is mutual respect. In his father Micah he found a fascination for how things went together, but not a friend. Micah’s personality is a closer reflection of his mother, whose same go with the flow personality and dislike of longterm plans eventually saw her push away from her husband. She and Micah have a loving relationship but she’s since moved to Valles-New Shanghai and has a happy bachelorette life. They don’t see each other often but pick up where they left off easily on their visits. Micah’s relationship with his stepmother is stable but loving is a hard adjective to use. Again respectful. She too is much like Micah’s father and that’s perhaps how they work out so well. Both have strong independent streaks and only come together to couple when they need it. Micah’s little stepsister is the more loving relationship in his nuclear core. Through her he developed more of a knowledge of the Yue world of Qianjiao and the mirror of majority Anglo Noctis. She laughs at how terrible his Yue Chinese is and tries to help him with his tones but he is hopelessly tone deaf. They keep up through subspace regularly, Biyu being his major middle man for hearing about his parents.

He originally wanted to become a shuttle pilot but the slots for those were filled largely by trainees who had previous flight experience. It's still an interest of his but he likes computers so it felt like a good fit.
Medical History		August 2377: Micah is admitted to the emergency quarantine ward in Xueliang Plaza. He's treated for Martian Sweat during an outbreak of that hemorrhagic disease in the central region of Mars. Martian Sweat is a disease with elements in common with Hantavirus (with Renal failure) but the patient intensely sweats during the final phase. February 2390: Had a dataport implanted to assist with computer diagnostics in the construction yard when lacking an interface. It's located in the back of his neck just below the hairline. He rarely uses it anymore. It allows for direct data in an augmented reality feed within line of sight. While useful for various data applications (and it has been mis-used by Syndicate personnel for hacking) the longterm use of it is tied to eye strain and headaches. Starfleet recommends that it's usage by limited to essential functions and for not longer than two hours sustained at a time.
