Amril stood in the corridor of the Galileo with Warrant Officer Janssen, watching as the woman worked inside a panel. She was giving him a hands-on lesson regarding the life-support systems on the ship. He watched intently, an inquisitive look in his violet eyes, memorizing every minute detail.
"Amril!" Aria smiled as she walked down there, seeing him... and it was strange, he was here and he was... well... it was strange. Considering everything. "Hey... and ma'am..." she smiled to the Warrant Officer, recognizing the fact she was in her rank for a better reason than spending four years in a lecture hall sleeping.
"Ah, hello, ensign," Amril said, "I must say it is delightful to meet you again. Though I suppose that would be more surprising on a Galaxy class ship." He smiled at her while the half-caradassian woman nodded her head and fiddled with a control panel.
"Yes, I suppose so... how are you doing?" Aria asked with a small smile. It was good to see him... and he was smiling too, looking more confident with his place here.
"I am quite well, thank you," he replied politely. "Are you well?"
"As good as I can be," she said easily, with a small nod.
"Excellent. I must say, I very much appreciate your assistance during my time under surveillance. What is the correct way to thank you for something like that in Federation culture?"
"Yes... it's more than acceptable," she chuckled at how formal he was being. She was still getting used to that side of anyone. "And it was my pleasure."
"Ah. I am more familiar with your politics than your society."
She smiled at that, watching him. "Well, society is difficult to read... politics is as well, but you are smart man."
"Of course," he said, "I was designed to acquire all the knowledge I may need to serve the Founders. My specialization, though, was organization and complex problem-solving. I have found that your literature offers great insight into the way your kind think. Do you have any suggestions for material from the databanks?"
She considered it for a long moment before shaking her head. "Films," she finally said. "Watch some proper old classics. I mean, Earth has some great stuff from the 21st Century. Watch and learn, that sort of thing..."
"Films...?" He obviously didn't know what she meant.
"It's... like holodeck, but usually 2D and on a screen... so it is nothing like holodeck... it's..." she thought about it. "Clips of recorded material of people, however it is all acting and there is a story..."
"I see," he replied thoughtfully. "Fascinating... perhaps you might show me sometime?"
"Of course," she said and nodded, her eyes warm. "It's the best thing for a picture of interaction."
"Excellent!"
