Jeremy kept an eye on the PADD while working on the station. He had been able to do this before and it worked well for him, being able to have a visualization of situations at times made it easier to 'see' a more tactical advantage rather than the flat screens and awkward symbols. Meanwhile, since there was no immediate danger to the ship and they were on their way to the Rojar system, he ran the tactical station from his PADD.
However, the arrival of a large science officer reminded him of the other PADD in his pocket and he signalled for a replacement to come take his place at the tacitcal station so he could speak with Pendleton in private.
Glaring at the larger man, he nodded toward the corridor as the replacement tactical officer arrived.
"Lieutenant," Jeremy said, "I told you not to speak to anyone concerning the details of your case."
Jacob lifted his left eyebrow ala Spock and replied, "I have told no one of the details of the case Sir. I have only told Dr. Panne about the incident as procedures dictate, but I told her nothing of the details."
Jeremy nodded. "Good, then you'll understand that this conversation also did not happen." He took out the PADD and handed it over to Pendleton. "I have sent the same information to Anders, and you'll advocate would eventually get it under rules of discovery anyway, but, maybe with it Anders will consider his charges before it gets to that point."
Jeremy sighed. "Seems the woman we know as 'Starr' also goes by the name of Latrika Mealedron. As such she's romantically involved with Kirkul Mealedron, a Tinubrian currently held on Cygus Six penal colony. Kirkul has regular visitation with another Tinubrian named Rehkul, who is suspected to be Mealedron's relation of some form. Rehkul often goes under the alias of Clekclek Madrus. The manifest of the transport ship you were on contained a passanger by the name of Madrus Clek. It is a tenuous connection at best, but one that deserves to be looked into more."
"Understood, Sir," then with a wry smile he replied, "Check into what, Sir?" Jacob insinuated that the conversation did not happen and relayed that in his voice quite plainly.
Jeremy scowled. He had just explained this. "Check into the connection between a possible associate of the woman also aboard the same transport craft you were on. It could also explain why she commed the shuttle other than to talk to you."
Jacob sighed a little but nodded, "I appreciate it, Sir. It is good to know."
"It doesn't completely absolve you of guilt, by itself. But, it's something that should be considered."
Jacob nodded again, "Well I'll carry this as far as I need to regarding this manner Sir."
Jeremy scowled again. "As you've already stated and as you should. Have you obtained an advocate yet?"
"Of course. I sent message to the Judge Advocate General's office immediately after we spoke." Jacob leaned against the wall and crossed his arms.
Jeremy nodded. "Good," he said. "I'm sure you have to get back to your duty station and prepare for the upcoming survey." He looked around, hoping to avoid any of the press that was supposed to be running around.
"Thank you Sir." Jacob replied and then as he readied to head to his shift he remarked, "By the way Sir, for what it is worth, you do good work, you should know that I appreciate what you do." And with that he walked on to his duty station.
Jeremy frowned as the large man walked away, unsure of how to respond to that. It sounded like...not a complaint? It was something to consider later, at the moment he had to return to his own duty station.
