Leaving the small lounge, Amaranai was worried. There was too much to talk about with Lirha and she didn't want to say any of it nor did she want to hear any of it. Things seemed to have come out during their conversation and Amaranai knew it was because of the alcohol. She loved alcohol and missed the days of being stuck to Earth where drinking her memories away was common.

Amaranai was silent on the journey to the Captain's quarters. How was it the two women, despite their love for each other, could find so many ways to argue and disagree?

When they reached Lirha's quarters and entered, Amaranai reached out and took Lirha's hand.

"I don't want to argue," the brunette said. "And I don't want to be without you." She paused. "But I don't want to deal with rumors and people that can't tolerate love."

Lirha looked to her mate then stepped close to gently rest her elbows atop the Human's shoulders and clasp her hands together behind Amaranai's neck. "I think you worry too much." She paused to consider the irony of that statement considering her recent nightmares, then decided to just kiss Franklin with sensual reassurance.

The statement was not unfounded. Amaranai worried about a lot of things. Herself, her sister. Lirha. The ship. Her crew. And sometimes even her family, despite what they put her through. She allowed the Orion to move close and kiss her and for a moment, the worries left the security officer.

After a moment, she released her lips from Lirha and looked at the woman.

"I know," she said. "Maybe it's part of my nature. Maybe it's just because I grew up under different circumstances, unsure of what happiness actually was."

She paused.

"Whatever it is," she continued. "I know we'll figure something else out."

Lirha rested her emerald forehead against Amaranai's to help convey her understanding. "I think...maybe that is why I love you so much," she confessed. Her hands traveled down her partner's sides and to her waist where she hooked her fingers beneath the woman's shirt and began to lift it up. She kissed Franklin again, this time with longing and desire as her hands cupped her bare breasts.

When Lirha placed her head against Amaranai, she closed her eyes and listened to the kind words from her partner. The hands felt comfortable and natural on her side and hips. As her top lifted, she didn't protest. The kiss was welcomed and returned and Amaranai's hands began to pull Lirha's head down her neck and chest.

Amaranai enjoyed the pleasure for a moment, allowing a moan to flow from her mouth, and then pulled Lirha back up to continue kissing her passionately. At this point, Amaranai worked quickly to remove the shirt that was keeping the security officer from her lover's smooth skin.

The Orion's shirt came off and she felt the cool air in her quarters pass across her exposed skin. A pleasant chill of goosebumps rippled across her flesh and she could feel the effects of the Romulan ale now fully take shape.

Amaranai began to scout the Orion's naked torso with her lips and slowly moved down until she was kneeling in front of her captain. Slowly, the brunette put her hands in between the fabric of her pants and her skin and began to pull them down. Standing, Amaranai took Lirha's hand and leaned forward to kiss her, letting the skin to skin contact increase the pleasure between the two women.

Happily sighing into her lips, Saalm tugged Franklin's skirt down then pulled her close by the waist. Her green palms cupped Amaranai's rear while her fingers caressed then kneaded the smooth skin and tight muscles. She tilted her head to the side to slide her tongue deeper against the Human's.

The brunette took a quick breath when her skirt was pulled down, but it only made her enjoyment of the moment last longer. Lirha's hands on her body tingled and teased her that Amaranai audibly moaned. It got louder and was muffled at the same time when Lirha began pushing her tongue into Amaranai's mouth.

Amaranai's mind was everywhere. Her brain was trying to reconcile what they were doing with the rumors and complaints she had heard. She pushed them out of her mind as quickly as they entered for fear that she would get distracted from her moment of ecstasy. It wasn't helping, but she wasn't going to let it ruin their time together. Amaranai was going to go all in.

Reaching behind Lirha, Amaranai lifted the taller woman into her arms and wrapped the green legs behind her, then turned and fell toward the wall to keep them balanced. Quickly, she began to caress the woman's chest with her tongue and lips, wanting to enjoy a moment that might not last.

Lirha gasped when her back hit the wall, then she tightened her green thighs around Amaranai's waist for support. She let out a passionate moan consisting of built-up sexual tension and release, then closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the wall. Her fingers caressed the back of Franklin's scalp and pushed deep into her hair as she pulled her head into her breasts. Intense feelings of passion and pleasure overwhelmed her, causing her cheeks and chest to flush to a deep forest green. "F**k me," she half-begged, the folds between her spread legs now damp with an intense ache.

The words were filled with lust and it enraged Amaranai in a positive way. Things that were in her head were gone in a flash. She leaned backward and rotated so she could drop Lirha onto the bed. Grinning wildly, Amaranai looked at her lover. Kneeling down, Amaranai kissed the green toes and then moved up her legs. She passed by the wetness and moved up Lirha's belly to her breasts and her lips.

She lay down on top of Lirha and allowed their bodies to intertwine and their wetness to become one.

Lirha's eyes slowly fluttered open and her pupils dilated to take in the darkness of her quarters' bedroom. She let out a soft sigh then inhaled the fragrance of Amaranai's hair close to her nose. The Human woman laid atop her body with her head curled close, and Lirha could feel the cool sensation of the damp and sweaty sheets they laid upon.

"Amaranai?" she said softly, wondering if her mate was awake. Lirha was pretty sure the Romulan ale had caused her to pass out for a short while, and wondered if Amaranai had experienced similar.

Her name startled her. Well, not her name, but her name being spoken. Was Charlotte talking? Was Charlotte here? Forcing her eyes open, Amaranai noticed it was dark. She also noted - very quickly - that she was cold. And then, after a few milliseconds - she noticed Lirha was under her.

"Hmmm?" she moaned in pain. "Remind me not to drink that much Romulan Ale again."

Amaranai drank a lot normally. A lot. But Romulan Ale was much more powerful and she needed to make sure she avoided that much in the future.

Rolling down onto the bed, Amaranai nuzzled Lirha's skin. Her mind slowly allowed those bad thoughts to enter, but she didn't want to think about them. This moment was too special.

Lirha lazily turned onto her side to grin at the security officer. She reached her left hand out and set it softly on Franklin's cheek before stroking her skin with her thumb. "I've felt worse," she teased encouragingly.

Amaranai sighed. Despite the intense lovemaking of earlier, there were still doubts in her mind.

"I feel worse," she whispered. "I don't want to keep walking on eggshells because some people might have a problem with our relationship. It's not right."

"Who are...these 'people'?" Lirha asked after a short moment of thought. "Did someone on the ship say something to you?" she then wondered. "You can tell me..."

Amaranai rolled onto her back and considered the question. She wasn't sure of whom had been talking, just that people had been talking. But was that enough for Lirha to begin a witch hunt?

"I don't think it was one specific person,' Amaranai started, still staring at the ceiling. "If it was, I'm not sure who started it. I happened to overhear some security officers who didn't realize I was there."

She paused, unsure of how to continue.

"I wish I knew what to do."

Lirha privately wondered which people Amaranai had overheard. Had it been Luke, or Aria? Or the petty officer, Stark? Galileo was a small ship where everyone was in constant contact with tight quarters, and she always tried to keep a thoughtful ear to the ship's gossip as part of her duties.

"Well," Lirha started with a shrug, "if the rumor is out...do you really think it would make a difference if we stopped seeing each other? Would we announce our private decision publicly to change the rumors and how others see us?" It was a blunt question but a practical one.

Amaranai sighed. She didn't want to stop seeing Lirha. She was happier than she had been in a long time, at least during her time in Starfleet. And the security officer knew better than to let rumors make her angry or change her life, but the fact that the ship was small enough that people had already figured out that she and Lirha were together bothered her. And it shouldn't. People should be more tolerable and not care about their captain's choice of partner. Or was that it? Was it because it was the captain and a lower ranked officer?

"No," Amaranai said quietly. "To both questions."

She rolled to her side to face Lirha.

"I know I shouldn't care," she said. "But for some reason, I do."

Lirha wiggled herself closer to Amaranai in the sheets and gently pushed her green fingers through the brunette's hair, tucking several stray strands behind her ear. "Is it because I'm an Orion?" she candidly asked.

It was an interesting question. Was there something inherent in her upbringing that was keeping her from being happy? She had had many lovers over the years but all of them had been human. Was it really something that simple?

"I hope not," she said.

Leaning forward, Amaranai kissed Lirha and pulled the Orion closer. After a moment, she released the kiss.

"I know you want to help me," the security officer said. "I just wish I knew how to ask for it."

Lirha wrapped her arms around Amaranai and took solitude in her partner's affection. After a long moment of thought and more soft kisses against Franklin's lips, she looked deep into the brunette's green eyes. "It seems we both have the same problem, now," she weakly smiled.

Amaranai offered a weak smile and placed her lips on Lirha's cheek.

"Not sure if that's a compliment or just compounding the problems more."

She paused.

"But I do love you," Amaranai continued quietly. "And no matter what . . . I will."
