"That would be one description for it." Cameron muttered just audibly enough for the comm-badge to pick up his transmission. Without further preamble, he began working about notifying the appropriate civil services regarding the handling of a minor -- Federation Cultural Exchange Department, Interplanetary Child Services, and a half dozen other three-lettered organizations dedicated to various tenants of modern society.

"All necessary parties have been notified, Lieutenant." Cameron reported.

"Thanks." Kyle looked around, checking that the slippery little perisher hadn't slipped past him. No. Not that he could see. He walked across the threshold. "Seal me in, Cameron." Now he was alone in the store, apart from the customers. And Staff. "Just us now, honey." he said, more to himself than anyone else. "And I'm just here to help. Come out, come out, wherever you are. Let me get you out of whatever pickle you're in."

One of the discrete ventilation shafts in the aft quarter of the shop burst open, and down dropped the Nausicaan girl unceremoniously onto the floor. A clinkle of latinum chips resounded across the nearby walls when her pocket pouch of money ripped during the fall. Frantically, she began to reach down with her little hands and quickly snatch up all of the gold-pressed slips and strips that she had worked so hard for.

Back in Operations, Cameron observed several adjacent life signs pull away from the Nausican's, perhaps out of surprise since she'd fallen out of the shaft. The rest would be up to Roberts, although if his efforts to subdue or capture the girl were stymied further, he considered raising a second shield around her.

Clearly, that might be traumatizing.

Roberts heard the tinkling of coins and diverted straight for it. The girl in question was scrambling for her hard won stash, and she was far more focused on that than on his approach. He found a couple of slips that had bounced his way and scooped them up. He crouched down, just a few feet from her, "Hey, sweetheart, you missed a few." He held out his hands, her booty gleaming in his palm.

The young girl almost jumped at the sound of his voice, but then her lips pursed into a rage when she began to taunt her. "Give that back to me!" she demanded.

He kept his hand flat and open, but didn't reach out to her. He wanted her to come closer. "I'm not going to get you in trouble, sweetheart. I want to help you. Where are your parents?"

She looked behind him and to one of the passing Nausicaans who walked by across the far entrance to the shop and quickly disappeared from view. "...There," she pointed behind his shoulder, lowering her eyes to the floor.

He didn't look round. Fool him once shame on her, fool him twice... "I wasn't born yesterday, sweetheart. That's too convenient. I want you come to security with me. Sort this out. No-ones' going to get in trouble. I promise. Except maybe me, for closing this store for a bit." He gave her a hopeful smile.

"But...I can't..." Yuhia looked up to the ceiling, then back to the gold-collared man who'd been tracking her. Suddenly her lips turned into a scowl and she began to run straight at the man. When she was just out of arms reach, she threw a handful of her coinage into the security officer's face to distract him, then slid down on one knee in between his legs to make an escape for the exit.

"Ow!" Roberts threw up his hands on instinct as the coins pelted his face, just as quickly realised it was a distraction and grabbed for her, missed and turned to see her rabbiting for the exit. He allowed himself a smile. This time he was prepared for her attempt, and jogged after her, knowing he'd catch her at the entrance, trapped. And yes. There she was. "Give it up, Honey. You're stuck in here with me, and we're not going anywhere but security. I can do this all day."

Freedom was in sight as she approached the shop's exit in a dead sprint. And then she collided with a bright shimmer of white particles that threw back with enough force to land her on her squarely on her backside. Dazed and confused, she quickly got back up to her feet and tried to run out again, but came face-to-face with the invisible forcefield that's trapped her the first time. She banged her fists against the EM shield which elicited a visible, shimmering particle flow with each impact. "Let me out!" she yelled.

Roberts came over and put his hand on her shoulder gently. "Come on, kid. Its all over now. Let us help you."

Anger and despair spread across Yuhia's features. She knew the policeman wouldn't help her and that it was all a Starfleet ploy to get her to confess -- she'd heard as much from the other vagabonds aboard the starbase who'd taken her in from time to time. The feeling of the man's hand on her body made her cringe, and without thinking, she turned around to face him and suddenly grabbed his wrist. Her teeth bit deep into his fingers and penetrated flesh, and then her small foot came up and swiftly impacted his groin between his legs.

Kyle's instinct when she'd grabbed his wrist had been to grab her, despite the pain of her sharp little teeth. Fighting dirty was just something you got used to. And then she kicked him in the fork.

He groaned, tried to keep his grip, even as the tongues of indescribably intimate pain, sharp and remorseless, crawled out from the point of impact and up into his stomach, which roiled and couldn't decide if it wanted to vent its contents from one end or the other. The throbbing was crescendoing up, and all he wanted to do was roll into a ball. He still had hold of the girl, but more to keep himself upright than any real attempt to keep her restrained.

For a moment, the half-Vulcan listened to the communications channel, his brows furrowing in typical Vulcan-fashion to the sounds of disorder and chaos. The sensor board showed him little more than the two signals, both with rising body temperatures. After a long period of uncertain hesitation, he tapped the comm-link. "Lieutenant?"

"Yes?" Roberts voice came out thin, almost a wheeze. The pain was only starting to subside. And he was one hundred percent done with chasing her around. "Can you get a transporter lock?"

"Where are you requesting to be transported to, precisely?" Cameron inquired.

"Security," he wheezed. Damn but that hurt. Even miniature Nausicaan were unholy strong. His balls throbbed in time with his heart beat and he wished he could just curl into a ball until went away.

Cameron opened his mouth as if to ask another question, but seemed to decide against it at the last minute. Something about the way Robert's was speaking made him think the fewer questions, the better. Then, a second question came to mind almost on its own. "Should I alert medical?" He asked.

"I'll be fine, just be quick." said Kyle

"Let me go! Where are you taking me?" the young Nausicaan girl demanded with a pout before kicking him again -- this time in the shin -- with one of her small boots.

Roberts winced as the sharp pain in his leg briefly eclipsed the ache in his groin. He also let go of the girl, overbalanced and landed on his face. "Ow, transport now. Now! Ow."

Heaving an inaudible sigh, Cameron let his fingers sail over the console, re-establishing the transporter lock and querying their destination to the security office. Checking internal sensors to be sure that nobody or nothing was in the line of the would-be transporter beam, Cameron then began the transporter sequence.

The telltale sign that the transport had begun was when Roberts comm-badge disconnected from the remainder of the network... albeit just briefly. Eventually, it re-appeared, only at another part of the station.

Roberts rematerialised lying on his side on the pad, looking very undignified. "Did you get her?" he got up carefully and looked around the pad.

Yuhia had taken off running as soon as the policeman's grip had released her. With one exit blocked, she knew the only way out was back through the way in which she'd entered -- back through the ventilation shaft. Her little legs became a blur as she sprinted away, but suddenly, a bright light encompassed her vision and shimmering blue particles began to manifest. A transporter. "...Nooo..."

"Lieutenant?" Cameron questioned, not sure what Robert's had meant considering he was showing their life signs in security office.

"I'm good!" Kyle said, not entirely telling the operations officer the truth, but he got to his fet and saw the Nausicaan girl, looking a bit lost and dejected. Or at least he thought so. With Nausicaans it was very hard to tell. "Are you alright sweetheart? Ready to get some help?"

The girls momentum continued after the transport cycle completed itself. Once again, she ran straight into a security forcefield that bounced her back onto her butt. She shook her head than pounded her fists angrily against the floor. "Where am I? ....Take me back!" she protested after taking a quick glance around and seeing the ominous nature of the office she was now contained in.

"Security." Kyle was breathing easier now, and the nausea was starting to fade. He eased himself into the chair on one side of the table in the small office. "Child Services are on their way. All we want to do is help." which was true. What sort of catastrophic failure of civilisation had their been if a young girl was alone and resorting to stealing on a Federation installation? The levels of cock-up involved was barbaric. "So why don't you sit down, tell us your name, and get you the help you obviously need?"

A youthful pout spread across her ridged facial features. She stomped her feet several times while the heartbreak of losing all her latinum consumed her thoughts. Even worse was the mention of child services. She knew that would mean be placed in a home; most likely a juvenile detention center for the foreseeable future. They would treat her as a criminal, an 'undesirable' among their 'perfect' society. And in the process, she would never be able to grow up and do what she wanted to do without Humans always watching over her shoulder.

Instead of answering the police man, Yuhia found the nearest corner and sat down with her legs crossed. She stuck her thumb in her mouth and began to quietly suck on it while tears started to stream from the corners of her dark eyes.

Roberts sighed. This was going to be a very long night. And it was only four PM.
