Mission: Episode 15 - Emanation
Location: Gymnasium- USS Atlirith
Timeline: Md: -01

Stepping on to the treadmill Mimi switched it on and started a brisk walk, after using her time on the Chaka to rest and build her weight back up she'd decided to start excercising again hoping to be back in full shape for arriving at earth in a few weeks time.

Abbey walked into the gym, it was smaller than she was used to but had what she needed to begin regaining her muscle again. She instantly saw Mimi and wondered if she should leave but fought through her butterflies and made her way to the weights section of the gym.

As she broke into a jog Mimi's ears twitched and turned a little when the door opened, glancing over she saw Abbey come in and head over to the weights. "Hi Abbey." She called out not moving her head away from the treadmill.

Abbey smiled at her greeting and promptly replied: "Afternoon Mimi." She watched as the woman jogged on the treadmill and had to pry her eyes away. Making it to the weights she dropped her gym bag and took out some wrapping for her hands. "How do you say 'How are you?' in Nekomi?" She asked laying down on the weights bench.

"Miten son anda" Mimi replied, the words coming out a little ragged thanks to Mimi's slightly harder breathing.

"Miten soon Andar?" She said incorrectly as she raised the weight bar an then down again. "Miten son anda?" Abbey reattempted the question, only this time obviously happy with herself with how it rolled off her tongue, despite her accent was a little off.

"Not bad Abbey, with some practise you might be able to speak the language well." Mimi slowed the treadmill to a stop and stepped off, now she was warmed up she started some stretches.

"Thanks" She said with a bigger grin which turned to a grunt as she went into her session, lifting the weights and lowering the weights. 'I am so out of shape' She thought to herself before catching Mimi stretching in front of her and losing her rhythm, half choking herself with the bar. She recovered and put the weights on the shelf that held them just above her chest. "Do Nekomi produce any type of pheromone which attracts people?" She asked as if that had to be the only reason that Abbey was finding herself crushing on Mimi.

Mimi paused mid stretch. "Pheremones." She said the unusual word slowly. "You mean like Orions?"

Abbey sat up and nodded, "Yes Like Orion's" With Mimi paused mid-stretch abbey felt butterflies swell in her stomach and she resisted the urge to jump and pounce Mimi like a Nekomi. She wasn't sure what was causing such a twisted emotion inside of her. Abbey wanted to rip Mimi apart but also wanted to have her for herself, she kicked herself mentally. "Well do they?" She asked almost sounding frustrated.

"I do not think so, maybe to another Nekomi." Mimi replied, she did a few more stretches before stopping again as she realised the other words Abbey had said when she asked about the pheremones. "Why do you ask..... do you find me attractive?"

Abbey blushed and shot daggers at Mimi unintentionally "What? No Of course not! I was raised to hate anyone who wasn't human, I'd never... No!" She said but it didn't sound very convincing and if Mimi paid attention enough and wasn't too insulted she'd notice it. "Actually I was just asking for, my study I'm doing of your universe" She lied again standing up and moving to a punching bag. Now she needed to punch something, "In my universe, your species are ferocious fighters"

Mimi cocked her head to the side a little, it seemed unlikely to her that Abbey was doing a study into this universe it was more likely what she had asked had hit a 'soft spot' shrugging slightly she stepped back up onto the treadmill and resumed running. "Can you tell me about the Nekomi in your universe?"

The thought sent a shiver down her spine and Abbey went to turn away to ignore the question but stopped herself short. "They were the most amazing fighters the Empire had ever fought against in years. One Nekomi warrior could rip apart an entire squad before it would be killed, they used their claws and mouth rather than any conventional weapon we did which earned them a lot of respect amongst the ranks but of course the Emperor couldn't have a race of warriors because they didn't have many ships the extermination took only a few weeks which ended after we dropped a biogenic warhead simultaneously on all their colonies and homeworld, Only a few thousand survived and those that did were doomed to live a life of servitude as pets." Abbey punched the bag several times angrily.

Mimi slowed the treadmill down a little so she could hear Abbey properly over the pounding of her feet on the treadmill and Abbey's fists on the bag. What Abbey was saying was unbeleivable, the whole population reduced to such a low number and all of them slaves.

Stopping the treadmill she sat on the edge of it and held her head in her hands, her tail slumped to the ground beside her.

Abbey stopped punching the bag and looked at Mimi sadly. She walked over to her and sighed gently before carefully putting one hand on the woman's back. She was shocked by how easily she could comfort someone who wasn't even human, even more so at how soft her fur was and how warm it made Abbey feel. The butterflies were back. "I... I am sorry." She said now feeling terrible, she could be so heartless.

"How could someone do something like that?" Mimi said trying not to cry. "To kill that many people and use those left as slaves. What made the Nekomi have to fight that hard that your empire had no choice but to use a weapon like that."

"Fear," She said simply. "They thought that if they engaged with the empire early and preempted the strike they could stop it altogether, for a time it worked they were very good at what they did but they didn't have the technology. And time wasn't on their side." Abbey said before she fell silent.

"How long ago did it happen?" Mimi simply asked, the sadness in her voice was plain to hear.

Abbey had too think about it, she caught wind of the sadness in her voice like a hunter smelling its prey and it made her heart ache as if someone driving home a dagger. She didn't want to talk to Mimi, the girl she had a crush on about the destruction of her entire race in another universe. "I think we should change the topic? It's not really pleasant to talk about."

"I agree." Mimi wiped her eyes. "Thank you for telling me this Abbey."

Abbey scooted a little closer "I wish I could have told you different" She lookd at the woman and then placed a hand on her knee gently. "I hope that I can make it up to you by just being the best person I can be and trying to change my way and learn from the mistakes I made in that universe."

Mimi wiped her eyes, she'd only just been able to avoid crying. "I just hope that nothing as bad as that has happened to the Nekomi since I have been gone, so many things can happen in eight years.

"This universe is very different to mine, I am sure they are doing just fine. Have you ever thought about going back? To visit or trying to reach out to someone there?" Abbey suggested still consoling Mimi.

"I cannot." Mimi said. "I do not know where my homeworld is. I found some data that could be a clue to where it is when we were on the Duja'q but nothing else." She explained.

Abbey turned and looked at the young woman, "What information? I didnt exactly take part in the war against the Nekomi but Mimi, I think I could point us in the right direction, If looked through some star charts It might jog a memory" She explained, she doubted the Nekomi homeworld would be in a different place.

"A data file I found showed an area of space that was protected by a species that sounded a lot like the Bespiri; The Nekomi protectors. If it is then the homeworld should be around there somewhere."

Abbey nodded, "It doesn't really help me help you then, I wish I paid more attention to military history at the academy" She said sadly. "Well, I hope you find them Mimi. I wish I could be of more help!"

"You have helped Abbey." Mimi said, turning to Abbey she hugged her.

Abbey embraced the hug and Mimi with her own, she felt a shiver of electricty bolt through her spine and she let out an inaudible sigh. "I think I need to go get cleaned up, Luke wants to see me. Promise you won't be a stranger we get back to Earth? and that if you ever need help you know you can come to me anytime!"

"I promise I will, thank you Abbey." Mimi said releasing Abbey from the hug.

Abbey sat back and smiled as she picked herself up of the bench as stood. "Have a good day Mimi!" She said before leaving the woman behind her and her heart.

"You too Abbey." Mimi replied, she watched as Abbey left curious why she had already left when she cleary came in to do a workout. Shrugging slightly she stood up and turned the treadmill back on.
