Mission: Episode 15 - Emanation
Location: Rigel II - Avondale Shipyards
Timeline: MD 36, 1252 hrs

[ON]

Grayson had jumped on the first transport headed for his new posting as soon as he got his orders. Working with the Advanced Ship Design Bureau was something he had longed for since starting his Starfleet career. As far as he was aware, he would be joining the project later on, when most of the construction of the hull and space frame was complete. It would be his job to oversee final construction on the warp core, the first few power-ups and several tests on the computer core.

Stepping off the shuttle that was used for the last portion of his voyage, he stretched and took a breath. It had been some time since he was at a shipyard and looked around and the various vessels. Some designs were known to him and some not. He figured this was one of the areas the Federation constructed and tested newer models also.

Checking his orders again, he found the location and a point of contact to head to, Ensign Kala Marika. Consulting a nearby computer terminal, the young, eager and enthusiastic engineer headed off.

Kala Marika stood in her spacesuit, waiting while the airlock cycled, allowing her back into the relative comfort of the orbital office overlooking the spacedock her project was docked at. Cracking the seal on her helmet, Kala could breath good air again, and happily removed her helmet as the inner door opened to allow her back in. Shaking her head, letting her hair down, Kala went to the locker room to remove the rest of her suit.

She was removing the suit pants when her padd chirped on the wall beside her. Glancing at it, she noted she had an appointment with somebody from the ASDB. Tapping her padd to acknowledge it, she finished removing her suit before making sure her uniform was proper.

5 Minutes Later...

Kala walked into the reception area, seeing Grayson waiting there. "Lt Jones? Ens Marika. Welcome to Rigel II."

"Ensign, a pleasure to meet you," Grayson began as he extended a hand, "I'm here from the ASDB to be overseeing the warp core start-up, computer core installations and other networking features for a few ships here. I was given your name as a point of contact. The ship you and your team are working on is set to be my priority."

"For this ship I would be yes." Kala remarked, shaking Grayson's hand. Motioning for him to follow her, she led him to the main planning room for the ship, a largish room with an assortment of tabletop and wall mounted displays showing progress, design details, and various other documentation related to the ship. The centerpiece however, if one excluded the rather large ans expansive window looking down into the drydock area, was the large holographic model of the new ship, a tool that found constant use in the day to day of the build.

"Primary systems hardware was finished last week, the warp reactor assembly and primary computer cores are installed however are still awaiting the initial software. If you would like we can take a tour."

"That would be great thanks, gives me a chance to look around and meet some people before work begins." Grayson stated, still smiling.

Min motioned for him to follow her to the transporter bay, more of an alcove off the hall then a true bay, it served it's purpose on this small floating office. "Transporter is easiest unless you want a shuttle ride?"

"I wouldn't like to keep you back any longer than I need to," Grayson replied, "Transporter would be best. I know you will have a lot to do and I have a lot to get up to speed on."

Min nodded, leading Grayson to the alcove. She keyed in the transport coordinates, the slight delay before beam out giving her time to step onto the pad. The familiar whisk of the transport beam and the view changed to the main transporter padd of the new ship. "Welcome aboard," she said, "Same layout as the old class so we can head down to engineering, see the new core design, then I'll let you loose to explore."

"Oh, I will be used to walking around ships like this. I've served on a few, spent weeks in the plans and blueprints. I think I could walk most of the ship with my eyes closed. The core is of interest though. Any issues installing it or with initial power ups? I've heard some stories of this particular type being temperamental at first."
