..."And so that's when I tell him.."

In a fit of giggles, Marika cut's herself off. Unknowingly, she grabbed her young companions shoulder and shook it a little. "Run you fool!" More giggles followed, as well as proper shoulder groping. "I don't believe I've ever seen someones eyes go wide as quickly as his did when he spotted the Klingons running after me."

With a wide grin she playfully poked her friend a few times. "I love shore leave! What about you? What fun adventures do you get into?"

Yasmin clutched her bag closer as the strap slid from the playful manhandling. "I wouldn't know," she offered. "This is my first time ever on a ship, so I guess this is my first time with shore-leave. What sort of things do you do?" Noah had been tied up with ship things, meaning that she had freedom to do as she pleased, more or less. It was a liberating experience, and Yasmin knew she could only get into so much trouble if she was in the presence of an officer! And besides, Marika was a blast.

"Nonesense!" Marika grinned and picked out an orange milky looking marble from the bowl in front of her and observed it as she continued. "Ship, no ship. Leave or not. Adventure! It's the bread and butter of our existance. Don't tell me you've spent your life couped up in a house doing nothing but chores and homework?" She dropped the marble back in and stared at her friend in amused defiance.

"I've traveled," Yasmin offered - perhaps as touch more defensively than necessary. "just ... mostly with my family, or school trips. And never this far out of the Federation in general."

Mischievousness glittered in her eyes. "Well then! We'll just have to take care of that as soon as possible then!" Her grin stretched wide as she playfully poked her friend again. "Oh! And it will be grandiose I promise you!"

Jumping up, the young Bajoran twirled a few times on herself. "I wonder if any fun will happen this time around. I'd much rather skip the unpleasantness we had last time. I hope Abigail settles in ok. But I'm going to miss Wintrow. He was fun, if a little conservative. He was supposed to teach me guitar. Do you play guitar?"

Abigail? The name didn't ring a bell, but for as small as the Galileo was, Yasmin was still learning all the names. "I don't, actually. But ..." She peered at Marika and grinned. "I know someone who does. If you want, I could talk him into giving you lessons."

Peering at her friend intently, Marika taped her nose gently as if considering the offer. "Sold! Learning music I must! For it is the lifeblood of artists! And that is I! I think." She grinned at Yasmin and stuck out her tongue. "Who?"

Ooooh this was too fun. "Oh ... no one special. Just ... my big brother. He's the Assistant Operations Chief. A bit of a grump at times, but not too bad. He tried to teach me, but I'm hopeless so that's not the best reference."

"That would be awesome! I love learning new stuff and music has been taking a serious backdrop in my learning curve. What other artistic endeavors have you tried? Everyone has something. Painting? Song? Gymnastics? Dance? Ooooo! Ooo! Sculpting!"

Yasmin grinned. "I sketch - it has most to do with my work in Biology, but I like drawing just about anything."

"Drawing is good! Helps with hand eye coordination, and it's fun. Then again everything is fun when I do it, so I'm biased. Any other hobbies? Stalking? Espionage? Polka dancing?"

"Um ... none of the above." Yasmin giggled. "Do you stalk polka dancers, or dance the polka while you're stalking?"

"I stalk polka dancers while polka dancing of course! It's the only way to do it properly." She offered Yasmin a large grin. "What's your specialty? If you've found one."

"Just science and drawing. If you want talent, you look to my sisters and brother. They're the musical dancers ..." Yasmin trailed off a bit. "Well, musical, still, at least." She didn't know if Noah had tried anything beyond basic mobility since his recovery.

Marika blew a rasberry. "I meant for your science studies silly!" She poked her friend a few times for good measure, clearly expecting her to follow her jumps in subjects. "Why biology? What do you want to do with it? Does it speak to you? "

"You switch tracks like an FTL train, Marika," Yasmin chuckled. "And I don't know; I guess it's just because I like finding out how things live. What makes them tick and all that. I hope some day I might get a chance to do some terra-forming of my own."

"Ooooo, now wouldn't that be something? Creation of a new world. Balancing the ecosystem. Studying it's inherent flaws and perfections... I can see the appeal." She nodded enthusiastically a few times. "I approve of your ambitions and hopes for the future! It is rather interesting to understand how things work isn't it?"

"Indeed." Yasmin beamed. "But what about you? What got you into studying the stars?"

"Everything?" She grinned at the weakness of her answer. "I always liked knowing where things came from. It's what got me interested in archaeology in the first place. Studying where my people came from, how they changed. I couldn't stop at that. I wanted to discover other worlds and learn how they became what they are. But then, why stop there? Why not go searching for those old and new worlds, why stay at home when you can be out there and see it with your own eyes?"

As she spoke, passion rose in her words, to the point she almost shouted the last line. Then she giggled at her own intensity.

She was so fun! Yasmin found herself giggling along as she imagined just how her brother would handle the exuberant insanity that was Marika. Maybe it would help him out of his funk!

Jumping on friends reaction as if it was a cue of some sort, Marika started tickling her. While usually she would not have permitted herself such a fun physical attack, she felt like Yasmin wouldn't confine her to quarters for it. And so with gleeful laughter she let her finger do their work.

"Rika!!!" Yasmin squealed, twisting away to try and miss most of the attack. Still, she was giggling helplessly when she finally caught the other girl's wrists. "You're crazy," she gasped, but couldn't help a grin.

Sticking her tongue out at her friend, Marika struggled a little to try and continue. "That is a distinct possibility according to my psych profile. Although I am highly functional and possibly overhigly functional. I also like to juggle although I'm bad at it." With another giggle her eyes lit up. "Oh! That reminds me of the time ..."
