Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 02 - XO's Office
Timeline: MD 92 - 13.00 hours

[ON]

Jaana pulled on her uniform jacket to straighten it. She hadn't worn her uniform for almost three months and she hadn't missed it a day. After rechecking her hair once more she pressed the chime at the XO's office. She wasn't sure if she needed to report in or not, so she just did.

"Enter!" Holliday replied, busily stacking personal effects back onto the few shelves sparsely populated around the XO's office. Up until recently they had been displayed in the various locations available around the Ready Room, but with his return to the First Officer position, a change of office had become necessary.

She entered the room, not sure if she was suppose to stand to attention or not. She'd never been good at the military aspect of her job. "Ensign Jaana Voutilainen, reporting in, sir."

"Ensign. Nice to have you back on board. I trust you are ready for our impending departure?" Jonathan replied as he finished stacking a collection of paper books on one of the shelves, stepping back for a moment to make sure that they were exactly level and to his specification.

"Yes, I am. Although I haven't had time to check the labs jet, but I don't expect any big changes there." she said.

"You might be surprised." Holliday replied matter-of-factly as he satisfied himself that the books were indeed correctly aligned

"There are a lot of new faces aboard ship...I wouldn't be surprised if a few things were not exactly as you might have left them."

"Good point," she admitted. "There is also a new chief, I saw"

"Indeed." Holliday replied, there seemed to have been a sudden influx in staffing aboard Galileo, and as such there would need to be a period of adjustment for all involved.

"It seems Galileo is becoming quite the auspicious posting at the moment. The last databurst from Starfleet indicated no end of officers and enlisted crewmembers wanting to step aboard. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not however."

"I think it would be great to serve with people who all have a heart for science." she said. "Being among people who think alike gives us amazing opportunities."

"Indeed." Holliday replied. He still found it difficult even after multiple tours aboard the Galileo to be amongst scientists for so much of his time. Perhaps those with a more academic leaning might have thought differently.

"Otherwise I hope it will be business as usual...although hopefully without quite so much unanticipated danger or other complications. A quiet mission might make a nice change."

Jaana smiled. "Yes, for a science vessel Galileo has a habit of running into quite a lot of complications."

"Speaking of complications - I have a report to file back to Command ahead of our departure. I don't try to be rude but if there's nothing else i would prefer some solitude?" Jonathan slowly brought the conversation to a close, referring to the door with an open palm.

"Uh, yes offcourse. " she said and turned towards the door.
